The Longhorn nonsense about "We don't care about A&M! We're not afraid of them and never will be! They're not a rival!" oughta be pretty well dead at this point... UT is doing everything they can to scramble and keep TAMU under their thumb.

And ESPN's "coverage" on this is EXACTLY why nobody should blame A&M for wanting to get out. Gottlieb went as far as to say that Fox owning part of the Big10 network is no different than ESPN owning the rights to the LHN so he didn't understand why everybody is freaking out.

ESPN got all their guns firing on A&M... Pathetic and transparent.

And yall dudes buggin about that release... They cannot say anything or take any action on TAMU until A&M says their leaving the BigXII and applies to the SEC... What did you expect the SEC to do today?

Jay... Most think it's Tennessee but there's whispers down here the 50/50 OSU/UTk thing isn't necessarily true... Lots of rumors A&M made up ground pretty good lately and might have an outside shot. Probably UTk, though.

I still think A&M is leaving. They just need to leave the Big XII first and apply for membership to the SEC. If its not this year, it will come at some point.

Exactly, Trey... The SEC is covering it's behind because the Big XII and Texas threatened a $billion lawsuit for tampering. "No action taken regarding A&M" means we didn't say yes, but we didn't say no.. They didn't meet today for no reason and they're not stupid. Now they've got everything they need to show they didn't approach Texas A&M, but A&M approached them. They admitted they discussed expansion and the parameters under which they'd add teams. They can't extend invites to teams that are still affiliated with other conferences.

Bill Byrne didn't cut short a European vacation with the basketball team and jump on a plane this afternoon to come home for no reason.. A&M is still meeting to authorize their president to negotiate with other conferences on their behalf. Once they get through that, they're able to negotiate with the SEC and "action" can be taken.

Now Texas is using Chip Brown to spew nonsense about A&M's buyout being $30MM...

Going indy just to get an invite to the SEC sounds super risky, but ESPN is in bed with the SEC so I really don't get the "spin" angle that's being thrown out there.

If we learned anything over the past year or so, it's not to listen to Chip Brown.

They arent going to go through the process of applying without being assured they will be accepted.
