Do people forget Peyton plays like crap in the playoffs

to me the defense could only do so much against that colts team. when i look at that game, i think of the 2 missed field goals, the td before halftime,  and the play where sanchez got leveled yet they called holding on the jets.  you make those 2 field goals and at the very worst hold them to a field goal before halftime  worst case scenario, the colts get the ball back in the 3rd quarter down 23-9.    that said the jets caught some lucky breaks with missed field goals in both the bengals and san diego games so it goes both ways i guess.

that's been my issue with peyton.  he's a great regular season qb.  he should've won more then 1 super bowl though.   it's a team game  but the losses to pittsburgh in 2006, both san diego playoff losses, and a few other games earlier in his career are beyond me.

going 14-2 with home field advantage and losing to a 6 seed in indy is one thing,   doing the exact same thing in new york on a team that would be a super bowl favorite is something way different.

unless peyton is handed to the jets for dirt cheap and his contract is very cap friendly (which wouldn't make sense on either the colts or his part) i don't see any way peyton is a jet.

2 names i would be happy with as backup qb's though are jason campbell or david garrard. when healthy either of them would be a more then serviceable backup and fully capable of taking care of things if sanchez doesn't show improvement next season. especially jason campbell if he's willing to sign with someone as a backup.

i remember 06,  i don't necessarily want to say they caught some easy breaks as if you win a super bowl  your the champion, no doubts about it.

but they got a 9-7 chiefs team in the first round who had no business being there,   a ravens team in round 2 that had a crappy offense and went 13-3 off a last place schedule  plus peyton always got the best of the ravens,   they got new england at home (which was the real super bowl that season)  instead of having to go to san diego and play a chargers team that has proven to be the colts kryptonite over the years.  in that new england game peyton manning led one of the best comebacks ever and i give him all the credit in the world.     in the super bowl though  they played the rex grossman led bears and you know rex loves to give games away.

aside from the new england game, they had a pretty easy schedule on the way to the super bowl.   doesn't take anything away from them  but it is what it is.

it don't matter the sport,  bad chemistry and bad attitudes have destroyed teams way better then this jets team.

it's alot of making up and fixing things that needs to go on behind the scenes because everything that's been said since sunday speaks volumes.

Tanny put together this years team on the basis of capturing lightning in a bottle, and not solely on talent. Our depth, if you want to call what he had as depth, lacked talent.

This team can be in win-now mode still, if the players are put in line. They can't run the show, Rex and company can't be buddy-buddy any longer. Also, proven talent needs to be brought in, not "let's hope he can succeed"-type players.

. Tony Sparano next in line for our OC. He was HC in Miami when they were all about the Wild Card a few seasons ago, right?

Either way, very pleased to see Schotty knew he wasn't wanted. Hopefully, whoever the next hire is, shows any improvement. If it's Sparano, I expect us to finally return to the run game. His Dolphins teams were in the tops of league in rushing these past few years if I'm not mistaken.

I think Sparano himself dropped the wildcat too?
I wouldn't mind seeing it from time to time though just to change it up however, just not every other play like his early years with Mia. 

From what I've heard so far, I like his philosophy. 

1. We need an identity on offense. Last year, our offense was a mess. Our once ground and pound team couldn't run for %%*$. and we couldn't throw the ball for more than 20 yards. He says himself that it's vital to establish an identity. Which leads on to number 2...

2. The need to be physical. Just look at the teams in the past. Any team with success running the ball usually ends up in the playoffs. 

3. Dedication to big plays. It looks like he's going to open the playbook for Sanchez and look for opportunities to run those big 2-+ yard plays. He's had some success doing so as a OC and even with scrub QB's like Moore and Henne, so it'll be interesting to see the new change of pace.

4. And I think this may be the most important... the development of Sanchez from the ground up. He said it himself that he's going to work Sanchez from the fundamentals up. I think this step is imperative. Look really indepth at Sanchez's game and tendencies and tweaking it. With the possible addition of Haley (a pass play specialist), Sanchez can finally have the proper coaching he needs this off season. 

We'll see how this goes. I like his energy however. It seems like the guys in Miami loved playing for this guy. Hopefully he can be the nucleus in our offense to bond our offense together.
