2012 Summer Olympics Thread: London July 27 - August 12

Late but damn them ******* were fast AF in that 100m dash.

Carmelita Jeter with the Silver. 8)

Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica though. :x

USA Women's BB and Fed vs. Murray tomorrow. :smokin

Yeah, that was a great final - it was actually a race and the whole field was only separated by 0.26s or something.

Phelps may well be the greatest of Olympians, and is one of the all time great athletes as well. He has dominated his sport just as thoroughly as any other athlete did theirs. Talking about hyperbole as if there's some absurd level of exaggeration going on. The fact is, if you go around the world and talk about greatest Olympians, Phelps will now almost always be the first name brought up.

Excelling in multiple events is a mark against him? Dudes have no idea the level of fitness it takes to be able to swim that many events in so few days, not to mention the level of superiority it takes to win in multiple events where most others are specializing. The fact that he has dominated in three straight Olympics is an outrageous feat. The guy has TWICE more gold medals than the next person. And he's done it in a sport that requires you to use every muscle in your body.

Years down the line whenever the Olympics returns to the US, and Michael Phelps is given the honor of lighting the torch, you'll be able to tell your kids you saw that man swim.

I think what people are saying is that medal count shouldnt come into play, considering some events may only have 1 medal per olympics. Now his dominance in his events, no doubt makes him an all time great. But saying he has 20 medals or so, shouldnt be the only reason.

I remember laughing about that race walking after watching the Barcelona Games - then trying it. It's brutal - really tough on your joints.

One of the best Malcolm in the Middle episodes too - that and the rollerblading one.

Dude had the flame suit on speedwalkin... classic.

You're right, because it is even more difficult than that.
Nah, I think winning every track event is tons more difficult. I think would it would be a lot more taxing on the joints, and well no explanation needed after that.

But not to discredit Phelps. He is THE man.

And I said it before, but now ill say this, give him another gold for being the best athlete to interview.

Hell yeah...dude is just chill.

Anyone else not feeling this soap opera look on NBC for the Fed/Murray match?

Or it is just my tv?

Murray may be playing at home, but Fed has made Centre Court his second home over the last decade.

Andy best not slip up.

I thought the tennis was best of 3 but I think it's actually 5. Can anyone confirm that and if there is a tiebreak in the last set?

Looks like Murray's to win now anyway.

Definitely 5 sets - they just showed the score as a graphic. Must be the mixed doubles I was thinking of.

Is this more of Murray playing well or Fed playing bad?
Exactly. Murray is running down every ball, hitting the ball cross-court, down the line, serve-and-volley. He's making Roger work. And he's holding serve better and winning more points on his first serve.

And Roger has to be pretty beat after just winning Wimbledon a few weeks ago.
