HUGE day yesterday for the Lakers. :hat

Wins to this point......

Knicks 5
Wolves 5

76ers 7

Lakers 12

Jazz 13
Celtics 13

Magic 14
Pistons 14

God, if only we could have given that game to the Magic, we would be in tremendous shape. :(

Hill comes available on Thursday, toss these games to the Heat and Cavs, help get Mitch and the crew the idea that it's time to work some magic. Should start getting interesting pretty soon.

Why Jordan Hill needs to be traded / Or at the very least this is his last season as a Laker....

Looking more and more like the NBA won't try to offset the cap in 2015, and instead have a huge cap increase in 2016.

Everywhere I've read has predicted a cap of $66.5mil.

So assuming we hold onto all of our picks (4th, 27th from Rockets, 34th, 51st from Clippers)

This is our salary structure for 2015-16 headed into free agency

Part of the reason Hill has to go, is that we have 13 guys on the roster, while we can cut guys (have to cut 1 regardless), it would mean we have to cut a draft pick for every player we sign. Assuming Davis opts out of his player option (he will), even if we sign someone, we would still have to cut someone for every player we sign.

But if this is how we go, and keep Hill, and let Davis go.

We have $14,067,015 in cap space.

We’d have enough to sign Goran Dragic, and literally that would be it.

That would be an embarrassing way to start 2015-16 when you need to start building a team. To come away with only Goran Dragic because you wanted to keep Jordan Hill is insanity.

Now if Hill & Davis were gone, you'd have 11 players, which means you'd have to cut someone to sign a second guy, which can open up $530K if it's the Clippers pick - $981K if it's Sacre

Now we have between $23.067-$24.048mil in cap. We can sign Dragic and then have around $10mil for another starter.

I can only imagine the e-rage that's going to ensue if we don't make any deals.

Here's a tidbit that I didn't know from @stevekylerNBA:

The way both Ed Davis and Jordan Hill's contracts were constructed makes them hard assets to trade for value.

Jordan Hill has veto power on a trade unless Lakers pick up his team option -- so as an expiring he controls things. If the Lakers pick up the option, then you are talking about a team agreeing to $9 million for Hill next year -- #hefty

He means Ed Davis is hard to trade for anything good because the team won't have his Bird Rights to re-sign him. But if the Lakers are just looking to dump him, they might find someone who needs a rental.

I read somewhere, probably from @EricPincus, that when a player comes back for another 1 year deal they automatically get Trade veto power.

Hill, X and Wesley all have it this year I believe.

Mitch didnt give him veto power.

Lillard is just an OK guard to be honest,,,remember he's playing our NBDL guards,,he's too quick to guard,,,well,, he dunked on our two towers

maybe youre right...i mean he did put up 40 on another ok guard in westbrook not too long ago.

westbrook went for 40 in that game too....

Right. It's a stipulation built into all one year deals. If the lakers have a trade lined up with a team willing to take on hill's 9 mill next year, he's gone.

He can be traded. He just has a say because we use bird rights to keep him and it's technically a 1 year deal.

I've said that for months in here.
