Saver, you are wrong dude.

How do you drop all the way to 10th, tanking?????? :lol

Are you just exaggerating? If so, let me in on it, cuz otherwise I feel like you just completely don't get it.

We "tanked" this year, but not good enough. We finished at 6. We dropped 1 spot dude.

Had we tanked better, we could have jumped Boston and Utah, finished 4th, and dropped to 5.

You can't fall from 3rd-4th to 10th man, what are you talking about? Ping pong balls absolutely can not drop you that damn far. :lol

You know damn well I'm exaggerating but go ahead and act like you're not the smartest guy in the thread ( in your mind anyway)

We could put 5 more ping pong balls in there but will that guarantee a higher pick ? No it doesn't why aren't u getting that
mean.gif
, we could've even dropped a few picks do you understand that ?

if we had the 5th worst record instead of the 6th it would guarantee that we could pick sooner than we did today

its really not rocket science

I didn't call you dumb, and I'm not ranting, I'm talkin to you, trying to show you your error in thought process.

You just said 10 more losses wouldn't matter..........dude, what? :lol :lol

Look, look at this example. Your original complaint was some pro tanker(s) wanted Smart. Where he go? 6. To who? Boston.

How we do this year, vs Boston? We beat them, twice. We were losing both times, and came back to beat them. Look how that affected our chance at Smart. We got 7, they got 6. How do you not see that?

Did you find it interesting that Simmons, huge Celtic homer, was all excited and wanted Randle? Then he was bummed Randle went to LA. But that doesn't mean he won't like Smart in time.

Tanking guarantees lowest possible pick we can get. The Bucks tanked, they didn't get 1, they got 2. Still a great pick, no?
6ers tanked to 2nd. They got 3rd.

So on and so on. It's not like 8 teams can get ahead of you, its one, maybe. On a blind miracle, two teams can jump. (Very rare).

The point is, if we aren't winning anyways, why try to WORSEN your odds? Why TRY to get the 10th pick, over trying to get the 4th, but falling to 5th? It's still better odds at talent you want falling to you at 5, than 10. Why aren't you getting that?

Hindsight is 20/20 isn't it ?

Losing more games guarantees nothing if the ping pong balls don't come up luck has a helluva lot to do with who gets the top pick.

We could put 5 more ping pong balls in there but will that guarantee a higher pick ? No it doesn't why aren't u getting that :{ , we could've even dropped a few picks do you understand that ?

Again the Cavs were in the playoff hunt at the end of the season and they still got the top pick but I'm sure you'll never ever mention that because it goes against that tank message you've been preaching all year :{.

Oh yeah you ain't call me dumb, you just said I had dumb *** logic :lol another guy splitting hairs I see :lol

Man, are you trying to not get this?

Yes, Cleveland jumped. ONE team. Jumped. Know how miniscule the odds are for two teams to jump?

The tanking isn't JUST for #1. It just gives you the safest, lowest chance at a high pick.

Again, see the Bucks. Tanked alllllllllllllllllllll year. They got #2. Perfect.

The absolute furthest they could fall was 4. The odds on 3 teams jumping is like 1%. They were effectively guaranteed a top 3 pick.

You act like we could have fallen from 5 to 9, or 4 to 10.

It's maybe a 1% chance to drop 3 spots, and it has never ever happened before where 3 jumped. 2 has only happened a couple times.

5 teams had worse records than the Lakers. All 5 of them got higher or better picks than the Lakers. 100%.

8 of the lottery teams had better records than the Lakers. One of them got a higher or better pick than the Lakers. 12.5%.

its really not rocket science

All it does is give you a better chance but it guarantees nothing because luck is heavily involved , are we still gonna pretend the Cavs ain't luck up when they CLEARLY didnt have the best chance at getting the #1 pick.

and that is how life works

why do nba teams try and run offenses that get players high percentage shots? it doesnt guarantee that the shot will go in, why not just chuck 40 footers all game?

some times teams will get lucky, cant do anything about that. what you can do is work to put yourself in the best position to get lucky, and when it comes to the lottery that means having as bad a record as possible

Ok, then I don't know what you are complaining about.

We just drafted a 19 year old Kentucky blue chip PF, who starred thru the NCAA tournament with double double after double double.

And yet, some of us wanted even MORE than that. :lol

Randle could EASILY be the best pick we've had since Kobe, and if you don't count Kobe as our pick, he could be our best all the way back to Worthy in 82. Better than Bynum, Eddie, Van Exel, etc.

It's up to us to develop him now, hopefully he wants to be great. And I suspect, he is more suited to bang with Blake than Pau ever was, my only fear is he won't have the foot speed to hold up to Blake, and he might eat **** in the pick and roll NBA. We'll see.

At first I wasn't. After thinking about it for a bit, I'm coming around to liking the pick.

Plus I get to root for a Canadian. So that's kind of cool I guess.
lots of canadians this year

i dont really watch cbb so i dont know what he can do but wouldnt he hurt the development of mclemore? or at least soak up some of his playing time

still waiting for the next big thing out of china

Is he saying Cleveland got it right, but the Bucks, 6ers, Magic, Jazz, Celtics, and Lakers all got it wrong????

Cuz......those teams all landed top shelf talent.

Jabari
Embiid
Exum
Gordon
Smart
Randle

All figure to be better players than any rookie in last year's class, including the #1 pick.

Sooooooo?

I'm out for the night, Saver, hopefully you saw some of the reasoning for why it was best to fold this year, and why we need to tank harder next year.

If not, we can chop at it another time.

Wow :{ at some of the names you throwing around bro , and u calling my logic dumb :{

Stop selling these dudes dreams man please, talking bout he could EASILY be the best pic since worthy , and better than Bynum this tank **** got you gone of the deep end.

Of course it's possible but to say that out loud is setting people up for a major major letdown.

Someone just needs to make a list with the people calling him a bust right now.
I got you. These folks had the word "bust" in their posts........

I'm optimistic randle will flourish :smokin

Changed my tune :smokin

I'd like to add that there's no point in being pessimistic and negative about what has happened. Out of the top 8 prospects I had randle last on my board, but whats done is done and now you just gotta remain positive and hope for the best.

bynum had only one season where he was an allstar and that season he played 60 games

he was always hurt and our 4th best player during finals runs

love bynum, still hoping he can get it together and make a difference for a team but its really not that hard to imagine randle being better than bynum

Randle kinda reminds me of shaq with that goofy smile :lol

What if our 15 pick goes to the suns, they pick the guy we would've picked, he stinks it up, they cut him and we pick him up a la marshall? That's what I mean by valuing the draft pick as an asset vs the actual talent.

What if randle ends up having the best career of all the players in the top 7? Then what of tanking, hm? I think that's what saver means when he says it all comes down to luck

Randle shot doesn't worry me at all, mechanics look good enough. His role didn't involve jumpshooting, and besides that, shooting is something that can be developed. Rebounding ability is a big plus and he has pretty good handles.

what does worry me is him getting shots off from the post against these long and/or athletic NBA bigs. He's going to have to maneuver his way into shots, making everything a little more difficult. Build wise he's solid but he isn't elevating like that off his moves and his arm length is about avg for a pf.
