Watched that vid first thing I said was damn kids gotta be stronger than an ox down low, straight beasting.

He has trouble creating space tho, every shot he took someone was right there in his jersey but to his credit he's strong enough to finish thru the contact.

Hard to tell until we see him against NBA talent but I'm like 50/50 on dude,, seems gritty and crafty which are two things I like in players sorta like a mean streak.

I have faith in this kid. Based off the interview you can tell he's pissed that he dropped that low. He's going to have a big chip on his shoulder and that's something looking forward to next season.

[Video]Julius Randle Is The Most DOMINANT Player In High…:

His high school tapes show off more of his perimeter game....he's gonna be a steal at number 7. Kid is z Bo if z Bo could win a dunk contest and run a fast break now and then. I'm all in

Him and lance on the same squad would be madness :eek :eek

Now that love is essentially out of the picture, how does that change the approach moving forward? Do you go all in on one or more of lowry/Bledsoe/lance? Target a big like gasol in free agency next summer? There are also a handful of solid c's that should be available for less than the max. A core of bled/lance/randle/gasol might be one piece away in 16

re watching interview, the way he gave interview has similar tone and vibe to kobe. sounds like his worth ethic would be just like kobes

100% of pro-tankers are still powerless to the Lakers' outcome.

And anti-tankers.

That's what some of you simply refuse to understand (I'm looking at you, CP.)

"Oh, I understand. But people want to be wrong about blah, blah, blah..."

:lol

I don't care about powerless. I came in and dude was *****in and cryin that pro tankers screwed everything up, we got it wrong, etc etc.

I tried to show him the logic worked. We got what we needed. Our best asset is now 19, instead of 36. He costs 2 million per, not 24.

It's fine he is anti-tank, but don't be slandering pro-tankers and have all his facts wrong.

That's where I stepped in. Now he just refuses to hear us, and that's fine too.

:lol @ all my facts wrong

Anybody who isn't in line with your point of view is always wrong or doesn't get "it" etc etc

:lol @ Randle being our best asset

What u hate Kobe so much you'll get rid of him for a ball boy ? :{ all you talk about is 20 mill this 2 mill that, how long u gonna whine about it :{

You promised these dudes the future and I'm not saying Randle is bad but I don't think he's the future or someone we can build around and that's a reason to tank.

Also I find it hilarious the teams were rigging for wiggins and the team that got him wasn't rigging , it's like poetic justice because tanking is pathetic. .

Notes from Mitch:

- Mitch Kupchak said that the Lakers won't have a coach by the start of FA Monday, but will sometime "probably in the beginning of July"
- Kupchak reiterated that Randle does not require surgery at the present time, but if they opt for a procedure, he isn't fretting it

- on Pau Gasol being a priority (vs. other free agents): “It’s going to depend.”
- Clarkson cost $1.8mil in cash considerations.

- Not naming names, but, "If any of those players want to make a move, we're prepared"
- "As long as Kobe’s on this team we have to believe that we can contend for a championship.”

To be fair, although I did say to not take Randle, it was under the assumption that Smart and/or Gordon would he available. By pick number 7 the Lakers had no choice but to go with Randle and now we must allaccept it and move on.

Coach will be a bum if we don't land a big name free agent, because there's no point in blowing up the payroll if you're going to miss the playoffs next year. PS "tank" = sucking. If we're not a playoff team, we're a tank team. Why is this hard to understand?

As for Randle, it's whatever. He ain't gonna be a beast for 2 years or so, so I'm not excited or anything. But I'd be stoked to see him paired with Okafor next year (if we go the tank route).

Randle and Clarkson played in the same conference... One of which my favorite team (Alabama) plays in. So yes, I've seen a lot of Randle, Clarkson, and Young.

But I digress... I'll let dude continue to post about tanking, the Kobe contract, and love :lol

It's not tanking per se, it's just accepting the fact that we're going to suck in current form. Even with healthy Kobe we're a 8-10 "seed" out west, and with Melo we're a 7-8. Need two big names to get my attention.

What do you think of Clarkson? Can he contribute?

Stop instigating :lol
Wish I had dat L2B discipline.

A few quick points:

-SenorRobot, it's not hard. Just don't enter until something newsworthy happens. It's actually been quite a peaceful 4 weeks. But now that the draft happened I can come in and chime in about the pick, instead of whining about the same things everyday.

-I see nothing's changed. People still can't let go of the past. Tanking is STILL being argued :rollin Dudes posts are being called dumb... Hahaha, same ol same ol. I don't know how some of you can handle this same formula day after day. But enjoy :lol

Draft thoughts:

-I really wanted Exum to fall after Orlando passed. Then I really wanted Marcus Smart (screw boston :{ ). Then I wanted Randle and we took him. So I was pleased. Unlike some others I wanted no parts of Vonleh, but that's just me. Not saying he doesn't have amazing potential. He does, like people have said he has a "higher ceiling." I just PERSONALLY don't think he'll get close to that ceiling. Don't stab me, it's just my opinion 8o

-sure Randle's lack of wingspan and defense isn't great, but defense can be worked on. I saw him playing some tough defense in the tourney in spurts. He just needs to develop dat LTB discipline. 8o

-loved his attitude. I think Kobe's going to love working with Randle and teaching him good footwork. Randle wants to make those first 6 teams pay and I can tell he's motivated. I am excited. :hat

-who the hell is Jordan clarkson? I saw P tweet he's a tall PG who can't shoot. I guess it might be a good thing to have a pg not looking to shoot, but is he good at everything else? Court vision? Defense? Is he quick? Have no idea who dude is :lol but at least we got someone else to work with.

That's it for now. If I get some interesting responses I'll stick around and chat, if not I'll see you guys when we hire a coach.

Oh and... #NoGuarantees like you said all year long Ska.

Why do people honestly think that we are somehow going to have a worse season than last year when we are getting back a healthy Kobe Bryant & A lottery pick who should be NBA ready. Their isn't a soul in this world who is going to tell Kobe Bryant to quit and Just accept losing in his Final two years in the L. Kiss that tanking idea goodnight. It was Okay last year considering the amount of talent in this Draft.. Next year doesn't have half the Talent Nor do i think we will be a top 5 bad team.

So i say the Lakers try to give out a ONE high contract (10-12) a year too a Bledsoe/ Monroe/ Stevenson and fill the rest of the roster out with two year deals for young guys/vets.

Now if we can get Melo On a long Term deal even at the Max i do that with no hesitation. Melo would be at around 22-23 million by 2016 & we would still have cap to rebuild around him & Julius.

Woke up and I'm so happy man. If you told me 10 months ago the Lakers were getting Randle, I might've shed some tears.

Loved him way more than Smart or Gordon, kid is gunna be a stud once he develops that outside shot to compliment his game.

COULDN'T BE HAPPIER

This post is just so bad.
Try and trade Kobe to any team in the GM league and you'll probably get laughed at.
Try and trade Randle, and you'll have teams lining up to control a player of that caliber for 9 years, not to mention you get him FOR 2 MILLION DOLLARS for 4-5 years.
Simply put, there is not a greater asset in the NBA than a good player on a rookie contract.

U say it's hilarious that everyone was tanking for Wiggins, that's not the case at all.
Everyone wanted Wiggins or Parker or Embiid or Exum, etc..
If Randle was born a year earlier, he would've gone 1st last year. We picked a good year to tank, man.

Read your post, and you clearly don't grasp it man. You hype Kobe as our best asset, at 36, with an achilles, multiple knee repairs, 200,000 miles on his odometer, and the highest contract in the NBA.
Over a 19 year old with no mileage, a foot, and 2+ mil.

Which one is the future dude? Pretty damn obvious, to most of us. :lol

And you keep talking about #1. Why? Why do you keep bringing up #1? Pro tankers said all along, it's not about just #1, but 2, 3, 4, 5 anything we can get. We finished at 6, and got 7. We were a couple games from getting into the 3-4 range. They should have tanked better, but they didn't, they let Swaggy steal meaningless games in April, and it cost us.

But Randle is still better than anything we've had a in a lonnnnnnnnnnng time in terms of youthful piece. Bynum was the last piece we had like this, and that dude was perma hurt. "Hopefully" Randle has better luck than that. But again, that's not on us as pro tankers, we told everyone before the year even began to get even lower in the draft, as close to the top as possible. So we would have our choice of who to take.

Search all reports. The top 8 were pretty standard.

Wiggins
Jabari
Embiid
Exum
Randle
Smart
Gordon
Vonleh

Same 8 names that we've talked about for months. Same top 8 in all the mock drafts. Same top 8 in terms of prospects. Same 8, everywhere you look.

We picked 7th. We got what was left, of the best 8. Had we tanked better, we would have had more options. Maybe we could have taken Smart, or Exum, or Gordon, etc, clearly, we chose Randle over Vonleh, outside that, we don't know who we would have taken at 4-5. Maybe, it still would have been Randle. Only Mitch knows that answer.

It was never about #1. It was about getting as close to #1 as we possibly could. The team just didn't do its job enhancing that asset, which has also been addressed a number of times in here.

As Ska said, that's not on us, we can't make them do it. We can only speak on it.

Actually, tanking hasn't been discussed in quite a while in here. Saver for whatever reason is really upset about the Randle pick, and is lashing out at us as Pro tankers. I'm not gonna let him go off on us, when the actual team didn't do what we suggested last August. :lol

And it's fine if you had Randle over Vonleh. I simply preferred the player that plays better on both ends, but hopefully Randle will develop some skill on the defensive side. Or, you guys could always blame MDA for not coaching defense........oh, wait, no, now you have to actually blame the players, that don't have the defensive skill set, I forgot. :lol ;)

I'm hoping now that somehow MJ screws up with Vonleh, and maybe in time he becomes available. 8o

All in all, Randle wasn't my first or second choice, but he's a dog, and will blend and learn from Kobe's final years, so that's good. Hopefully, he plays every game like it's the NCAA tourney, in which he was outstanding. Look forward to watchin him learn and grow.

Now let's go save our draft pick in 2015.

(BTW, as a reminder, the Pistons pick was top 8 protected, they lost it when they fell to 9, to the Hornets. That pick? Noah Vonleh. He would be a Piston, instead he's a Hornet now. And all the Pistons got was Corey freaking Maggette. All we got was Steve Nash, and we could actually give up a higher pick than 9, so that is an example of how much we need to save this pick if we can. If we can't, then oh well, you're welcome Phoenix, have another first rounder on top of the dozen you already have, while we have our one and only #7. :lol )
