Nash would have to be stretched... Ariza will want $7mil / year. IT2 will be $8mil. Melo will be $20mil. Pau will probably be 9-12mil.


We have $28mil to spend on 2 guys. Unless Pau wants the MLE of $5.03

This year, sign Lance.
2014-15 is PG, Lance, Kobe, Randle, bring Pau for a year. First round exit, etc.

Next year, sign Marc Gasol.
2015-16 is PG, Lance, Kobe, Randle, Marc. Second round exit in Kobe's final year.

2016, replace Kobe with Kevin Durant.
PG, Lance 26, Durant 28, Randle 21, Marc Gasol 31-32.

Right now we have Farmar, Marshall, Clarkson, Kane. Any 2 of those could work, and really we could stash Kane as a cheap D-leaguer to develop into hopefully a Patrick Beverly type piece. (Backup-3rd PG/injury protection).

Feasible, right? No tanking, make playoffs for Kobe. Randle and Lance are both dogs out there. Will fight tooth and nail.

Offense and defense is balanced when you swap old Kobe for prime Durant.

Fill the rest with decent bench guys, that five would be savagery. AND weakens Memphis-OKC in the process.

Folks ok with something like this?
