They are interviewing Karl, Scott, Rambis, Jeff Van Gundy. Also try to get an interview with Kevin Ollie and John Calipari if interested.

That's from Bresnahan

Since he is under contract, and better options are not CURRENTLY available (although that could change soon), there's no point to firing him and paying him while we pay another coach and waste even more money during a season that we can pretty much all agree won't go very far.

So it you guys say let's see what he can do with a fair shake.... Let's do it.

Let's see what he does next year with a healthier squad. But if his team quits on him or we continue to allow teams to score 140 a night even with better, healthier players... I don't wanna see the same excuses you guys have been using this year. I'd expect you guys to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe he's not as great as you thought he was.

And on the other hand, if the team does play better (doesn't have to be great, just better) defense, wins more games, and shows clear improvement then I'll be willing to admit that maybe you guys were right and he can coach pretty good with a little more help.

Would it be fair to agree to that? Gentlemans *handshake*, and just leave it at that? So we can peacefully focus on the draft and leave this alone until the season begins and our coaching is relevant to discuss again?

Just to make it clear, 3 days ago on page 37 I said this. Well before Mikes resignation.

I was open to him staying, I like I said, since we were going to suck anyways. Made no sense to pay 2 coaches during a transitional year. Plus, I admitted, no better coaches were "currently" available.

I extended that olive branch.
I made the effort to give Mike a fair shake next season. I was going to give him a chance to prove what he could do with a healthy squad.

I'm happy I posted that before the resignation.
You can't say I wasn't willing to give him a fair chance.

It's not my fault he quit 3 days later.

Has JVG really been waiting for the right situation to get back into coaching? Or is that just revisionist history?

I'm not tryna sit thru another miserable season like that, top 5 pick be damned :lol. Only bad thing about mike quitting is that a lot of guys that might have wanted to play for him on a one year deal to inflate their stats may or may not be interested. If this draft class is as good as it's supposed to be then we should be able to build a contender without needing another lotto pick next season.

some combo of ollie, scott, fisher, nash would be a decent coaching staff.

Waiting for the right situation and I believe he had (has?) kids in school so he didn't want to uproot the family from Houston.

thibs would be perfect for kobe

he gets to iso all day while the defense covers for his lack of effort

My only hope for Kobe's 6th resigned yesterday.

It's about to be... ROUUUGH.

Worst season in Laker history this year, record wise?

It will be the 2nd worst 12 months from now.

See, there's a bigger issue in that.

If Mitch and Jim rush the job, they will try to pick up any "talent" they can. Like Boozer, like say a Rudy Gay, plus the pick, Kobe back, etc and try to compete for the playoffs.

Therefore, the roster will be "better" and in all likelyhood, healthier than this season, and the Lakers will win a few more games, maybe even compete for the 8th seed, and guess what? People in this very thread (lots of them) will think the coach is doing a better job. When the reality will simply be, better health, more talent on the roster.

I don't think they are going to go for that top 5 spot to keep their pick. And that, will be a big mistake. But like Mitch is fond of saying, "we don't care about the draft"

Everybody else is interested in the lakers job. So am I. Ijs
Hey, his towel throwing game would be on point (right Jalen?)

*lower the roof*

Nah, whenever I think of Nick the Quick, I think of Hearn, automatically. "Nick dribbles into the paint... and back out to the left wing... Kobe on the right wing... Eddie up top... and Nick goes towards the basket... and now he's back out. Hey, where ya going, Nicky?"
