Well, at least one thing seems to be going right. They sound like they will wait til they know what pick # we'll have before they find someone to coach.
Obviously, the better the pick we land, the better the candidate pool will be.
If they start in with this re-sign Pau, sign Boozer, Kobe, and pick and "make a run" next year, we're already pretty screwed.
I wonder, if Vogel gets clipped, and we chased him, would he help bring in Lance, or would he hurt our cause to bring in Lance? I've never seen anything like what has happened to the Pacers, ever, so I don't even know if getting Vogel is a good thing anymore.
I just hope we stay away from re-treads. If we're going to be bad, or middling, then get someone young in and let them grow. Let them take orders under Mitch and Jim, and get everyone on the same page for the first time since 2011.
That's why I kinda hope it's Fisher. He knows Mitch, he knows the org, he's respected by all. He can learn on the job while we take more lumps, but if he stays working, and developing players, handles the media right, in a year or two he could be ready to go, and the roster could be shaped to his needs as we get out from under Nash and Kobe's deals, the rookie develops, etc.
I know it's a long shot and we don't even know if Fisher wants to coach, but I would take rookie Fisher over Karl, Coach K, Calipari, Scott, or any of the other has beens everyone is clamoring for.
