2014 NBA Draft Thread

IMO the Sixers should have done the deal the Bulls did with DEN to get 16 and 19 instead of taking Saric at 10. Then with those two picks taken Hairston and Hood.

MCW
Hairston
Hood
Noel
Embiid

Team would be straight booty cheeks for the foreseeable future, but they are going to be that anyway. At least they would have picked up some wings with potential and shooting which god knows they desperately needed. IDK, I'm just not crazy on the idea of Saric.

Yeah that sounds amazing. I dont know man. Saric was our guy from beginning of the process. Sixers loved him enough to risk stashing him for 2 years. All i know is he better be worth it man.

Some of still don't understand that the point of the draft isn't to round out your starting five.

Dudes in here coming up with these fantasy lineups of all 1st and 2nd year players.

Can Embiid play PF cause realistically I don't see Noel and Embiid playing together. If Embiid is healthy I see Noel being moved for a Wing.

Growing up i always went with this logic lol just recently did i realize thats not the way nba gm's think.

Embiid is a natural c that has the skillsets right now to play pf. Specially on offense. They arent moving nerlens. This was their plan all along.

Saric is my only question mark. He's a natural 4 but sixers writers are saying the team wants him to play the 3.

Excellent thought. Except I'd want Harris at the 2 and Hood at SF. Know many of you guys love Hairston, it's understandable with his shooting ability. But the maturity issues linger and Harris is better. Defends well, will continue to improve his outside shot which is already decent, and slashes with ease. MCW's length makes up for Harris' lack of prototypical height for a SG.

Yeah Harris too, him or Hairston along with Hood would've been one hell of a haul.

Worrying about Embiid and Noel playing together is pointless because 1. they've both never stepped foot on an NBA court and 2. they won't play together for at least a year. Worrying about fit is only a concern if they're both good. If you have 2 good, young centers then you have a GOOD problem. Philly has a year to evaluate Noel before Embiid even rocks a uniform.

I also have the feeling Bruno is going to be good. Similar body type to KD and Giannis and he moves in the same type of way. He seems to have some advanced moves. Plays with a ton of energy and effort. I don't think he's nearly as raw and unready as Fran was saying. I don't think Masai takes him if he's 4 years away and I don't think he takes him if he doesn't have great character. The one video DX has of him looks really intriguing especially for a #20 pick.

I just posted that lineup as an hypothetical. Not saying all those dudes would come in and start right away or anything. Just in my opinion, Harris/Hairston and Hood>> Saric

All this.

He (Masai) knew something us fans didnt know if fran was saying he was going to he around late 2nd round. Other GM's probably all kept quiet and were going to take him in the 20's anyways.

Valid point, sometimes NT as a whole gets carried away with 2K-like rosters.

I personally wanted Afflalo at the 2 for leadership, shooting, and defense. Orlando's price wasn't steep ultimately. I don't care about the metrics media guys were tweeting against Afflalo.

But yo at the same time when has draft picks that like ever worked out? Im a believer in drafting best player avilable (which saric was was at #10) over team needs.

Why does everyone keep saying Embiid won't play next season?
Because Hinkie will likely handle Embiid's injury situation similarly to Noel's. Nerlens Noel was reportedly fit and ready to play sooner than most of us knew. He even publicly cited his desire to suit up. The FO threw caution to the wind. What's to gain? Philadelphia isn't competing for a playoff spot in the foreseeable future.

I see the same thing happening, he'll probably be ready by late December/Jan and they'll just keep him in shape and let him practice.

Honestly I wasn't a fan of sitting Nerlens the whole year when he was ready to go, at least let him get some game experience, you essentially have two rookie bigs now.

Worked for Blake but I'm not counting him because he's an outlier in many ways.
