^ him opting out just provides flexibility. I don't think he's going anywhere either, but there is a chance it backfires.

Dude. Calm down a bit.

You really think the NBA would survive if they allowed every player to go play for whatever team they wanted to? The current CBA is constructed to save the NBA itself.

All these young'ns that play in the league all wanna play for NY, LA, MIA, Hou, CHi. The league would not last 10 years if that happened.

It's not targeted towards specific owners making bank. It's to save the league from collapsing.

Wade needs to come off the bench if they want to keep the Big 3 or wade needs to go somewhere else.

Only way it backfires is if Wade and bosh both opt out and leave. I'm sure he's talked to both and they're all on the same page

He's going to the Clippers. Doc about to clean house to make it happen. Ballmer wants to make that big splash as new owner...

He's not putting pressure on the Heat they have no control over D-Wade & Bosh financial decisions. If they opt in they are literally stuck

Even if they decide to opt out how much of a cut do you see them taking?

Bron 20
Wade 15
Bosh 15

Leaves them at 50 wit 9 spots to fill

They could sign a bunch of good role players... or sign another major part and have TRASH left as a bench

They constructed the current CBA to allow all 30 teams to have a chance at signing big names; to kind of defer from what happened in Miami in 2010..

..because if they didn't set it up that way, this league would only be a 6 team league...and small market teams wouldn't eat...thus leading to a league collapse.

Horse ****. That's what it is now. Small market teams wouldn't eat my ***. Bucks just sold for over $500 million. It was a money grab by the owners and it worked masterfully. The sorry teams will never sign the big name guys, especially if their working around the intended purpose by taking less money to stay or create these super teams in the first place.

League aint collapsing b. Theyre about to sign a tv deal worth kajillion dollars and have easily the most marketable players in any sport.

Wade should opt in, lebron and bosh go off to sign max deals and no one should blink an eye. Instead there will be all this slander about greed and loyalty but when franchises do it to players "it's a business".

The new jerseys are subtle but significant imo. The nba logo or the game itself gets moved to the back for an opportunity to make $$$

Just because you want to see the big 3 break up doesn't mean they "should" do that.

Wade needs to take $10 mil max, even though I don't think he is worth that much.
Bron and Bosh should each go for $15mil

That leaves them at $40mil with $37mil left to spend

You could go one of two ways....
1) Sign Carmelo to an equal $15mil. This leaves them with $22mil left to spend and questions about chemistry issues

2) Sign guys like Lowry, Gortat, etc. to lower deals to fill out the roster and act more as role players, which I think is the way they should go (even though I think they will end up going for larger contracts elsewhere)

No doubt in my mind that Carmelo wants to go to MIA though. But he's probably scared of the social backlash and possibility of chemistry issues. Houston is his other good choice but going back to the western conference :rolleyes

That's **** man.

The whole negotiation was a sham mired in oh noez, we're losing money, when after it was shown that wasn't the case. It was so they could get in Dr. Buss's pockets and get a piece of that TV deal the Lakers got that will end up being the norm, see the Clippers about to get a huge TV deal as well, it'll be even more money when the national TV deals are up in 2016. It was so the owners and GMs wouldn't be held responsible for making bad deals and decisions (see the amnesty and stretch provisions added in the new CBA). It was about shafting the players to taking 50% of a revenue that has billionaire owners that mostly use the league as a side business and lining their pockets with more cash. It's all good though, this new CBA and the inordinate amounts of money these owners are making will ultimately be what collapses the league when the players aren't able to get the big piece of the pie they shouldn't have settled for in 2011, but it's their own doing.

Collapse...man what a crock of ****.
