Point of a Salary Cap- so you can retain your star players and make things "balanced". Just because you limit a players worth doesn't mean they can't switch teams though so that plan is burnt.
Setting a Cap to how much a person can make in Sports in a Capitalistic America is never going to be okay with me no matter how you argue it. Capitalism doesn't work that way, to tell a man he's reached his ceiling is (this is a bit strong but) modern day slavery. Period.

Yes. To completely take away the salary cap is nuts. The richest owners would just cash out on every player they wanted. If anything, increase the salary cap, and take away the concept of max contracts. Let players earn their true value.

And I don't actively want a lockout, but it's inevitable. Owners locked the players out, and implemented a system where players will have to sacrifice money to win, and save owners money.

I don't know man. Cashing out on any player you want if there was no salary cap wouldn't be the norm. Only a few if any owners would do this, and it wouldn't work. You can buy all the players you want and it doesn't equal wins or Trophys. Team Basketball at the NBA level just doesn't work this way, it's harder than it sounds. The only reason a Cap is in place at all is because the owners know it saves them money. If they thought it would be better with no cap and gave them the opportunity to get which player they want and pay them whatever they want; the owners would vote for zero cap but they don't, you know why, because the owners themselves are Capitalists, and they put a Socialist cap on the players to keep the dough in their bank.

I say Free Willy, let the cap die a fast death.
