That's pretty much what I said, but with different wording. And I'm not saying he will get more healthy, but sitting out does eliminate any chance of him getting hurt again, even if it is only that risk that belies with every athlete. The risk is still there and he's your star pitcher going forward so i'd forget it.

I still don't think pitching right now makes any substantial difference. Whether it's 50 innings this year compared to 0 innings this year and a full season next year, the disparity is still big and might have a minimal impact.

The risk for injury inherent in all athletics for all athletes is simply not a good enough reason for Strasburg not to pitch when healthy.

And 50 innings is quite substantial in terms of progressive arm buildup compared to no innings at all at any level. If he wants to handle a somewhat significant workload next season, he absolutely should have something to build off of from the previous season. The Nats did the same with Jordan Zimmerman: a year after TJS he came back last season and pitched about 50 innings. This season he has been outstanding.

Regardless, the doctors and trainers are the most informed about the situation, and thus made the decision they did.

Also, TJ surgery is more and more successful as the years go by with pitchers. He may struggle the first third of next year with some velo but it's to be expected. I agree, if he's healthy and has the OK from the doctors he should be on the mound.

As a Brewers fan, Morgan was probably out of line after striking out to chuck his chew the way he did.  Better to let Tony's bat do the talking as it did a few nights earlier, however Pujols hardly needed to come to Carpenter's defense.  Carpenter and Morgan coulda done their thing and if it came to something, then AP5 can step in if necessary....

Love how Prince grabbed Morgan almost instantly and escorted him back to the dugout.  All Brewers need to do is focus on keeping their gap around 5-6 games and not getting caught up in the B.S.  St. Louis is frustrated and trying to get in their head, and Brewers just need to take care of their business and continue to play to their ability.  Rickie Weeks hopefully back soon and that lineup is pretty tough 1-6.

Wish he woulda thrown his chew at Larussa instead.

^^^^ Co-sign.  Does anyone outside of St. Louis really like Tony LaRussa?  Guy has been whining and moaning all year long about the Brewers, their stadium, lighting, lack of respect, etc...Love how St.Louis fans point to all their hardware and previous accolades when the season is winding down and its becoming more and more bleek as each day passes- you got 5/6 from the Brewers, now go 18-3 or whatever to finish the season and we'll talk.  Congrats on your past world championships and division titles.  This is 2011- Fear the Beer!

But why did Morgan react that way? from the highlights it looked like he did it out of the blue.

Carpenter said something to him as he was walking back to the mound.  Not sure what, but basically Carpenter admitted he's annoyed by TPlush and his antics so I am sure he rubbed in the K.  I don't really have an issue with the two of them jawing, but have no clue why Pujols felt compelled to fight Carpenter's battle that he most likely started.

Definitely seems AP5 feeling the pressure to lift Cards and make himself further eligible for a huge payday- not like that isn't coming anyway, but can't hurt to improve your stock close to negotiations.

Yunel Escbar is the infield version of Jeff Francour, little range, lazy, slow, but just has a canon for an arm.

I can agree with the point you're making, but I still think it's not that important he gets in there right now.

Do you really think he gets 50 innings though? I don't think he gets anywhere close to that.  Maybe 35 max, but more around 25 or 30.
