I don't I believe there are any players who can consistently raise their play in pressure situations.

Jeter? Rivera?

Rivera is just good, period.

all the time.

or let me say this, I don't think we have any tools to measure any possible clutchness. Could clutch exist? maybe. but I would bet no.

How do you explain ARod consistently failing in high pressure situations but Jeter coming through? ARod is certainly a better player

1. A-rod has like an .822 OPS in the playoffs I wouldn't call that consistently failing

2. on like 300 plate appearances. 300 plate appearances is what? half a season. If A-Rod hit .822 for half a season would you bat an eye lash? no. Why? because the sample size is small.

Jeter's advantage over most hitters he yankees have played in so many playoff games he's had enough at bats to even out the randomness. so his playoff numbers are closer to his career OPS.

The Yankees were in the playoffs so often his had enough AB's to even out randomness.

This doesn't prove anything other than great hitter hits great for 600+ PA.

Wait, how is 300 plate appearances a small sample size?

Comparatively, sure.

But 300 of something is A LOT.
