I wonder why Weiters would accept that. I'm feeling like he would get a pretty big contract as a C unless that injury is causing problems.

For certain guys the QO is the right choice.. If you're a $10mil a year guy, you might as well take that $15mil. Play your year at 1-1/2 year salary, then you come into FA a year later and your market goes up because you don't have a draft pick attached.

Weiters I'm not sure needs to take it. I think he'd get really close to that $15mil mark. Rasmus probably made the right choice taking it.

At least for position players, pitchers on the other hand, you better take that long term guaranteed contract money now before something happens.
