2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

For me, even given that, it would have been impossible for me to leave this year given the circumstances, and then to GSW no less, after I was so responsible for he Post Season ending.
That's what bothered me the most. You were that close then you decide to go to the team that beat you. I could never imagine Russ doing that. He's probably been dreaming about beating GSW since they lost

I would've absolutely signed the 1 year deal. After getting so close, idk if I could've just bounced. Especially after getting new pieces.

KD was hella close to Serge though. I remember the interview where Serge said kd was like his big bro and his mentor (which is funny since serge is 38, but whatevs), so I can imagine Kev felt a certain way about that when they moved him.

I read KD liked the trade to bring in oladipo... After that I was even more certain he was staying because I felt the team was better than before.

Couldn't the Knicks just wait, not sign Rose (or not for a max deal) and then sign Russ out right for a max deal?

Giving up KP ain't an option for Phil. 2 untouchables is KP and Melo (no trade clause).

Russ on the knicks would be dope.

I'm still not putting that hope in my mind. Keep that Knicks luck at the front of my thoughts and it most likely won't happen :lol :{

We probably just be used if you Russ starts talking about how he loves N.Y. or say some troll **** before a game against us.

NH?

Only a handful of guys have no-trade clauses. Last season, it was Wade, Dirk, KG, Carmelo, Kobe and Duncan.

One of the players this upcoming season who has a no trade clause is Dwight Powell from Dallas. Probably the most random development of the offseason.
This is false because to be eligible for a NTC, you have to be in the league at least eight years and with the team giving you the NTC at least four years.

Miami's current situation isn't better than OKC's.
by the end of next year they could have the best wing defender and center in east along with the fact that they're going to be potentially 70 million under the cap if bosh has to retire,

worst case you have a 27 year old hassan , 31 year old bosh , 30 year old dragic , 21 year old Winslow and like 55 million to spend next summer in the east . That lands you 2 superstars in this market ....

Pat Riley ain't no fool .
He seen what taking care of aging shooting guards does to a franchise .

Who got engaged on a night where he was just feeling it.

Was a very odd thing to bring up and the article itself was odd, but in the writer's defense KD himself has described that situation like that in an interview. He told I think it was GQ, one night he was just feeling the energy and proposed out of nowhere. That's where the writer got that from. He ended up calling off the engagement.

I mean, it's really not that confusing what Pat Riley is doing. He's pretty much doing what's he supposed to do in order to not be held hostage by a SG who will be 35 during the next season.

Also I love the whole "pat has to lock up wade to sell all future free agents on the heat being a family" :lol

Superstar : " I really like the pitch but you turned you back on Dwyane "

Riley : " you're right , after I help you win 3 rings with the heat and a decade living on a star island beach front home state tax free a Hollywood actress wife and a hundreds of millions in endorsements I'm going to to turn my back on you too"

*throws 9 NBA rings on the table*

"Tell them F***BOYS to say it to my face"

man the second pat heard Mike Conley got 30 m's he went back in his house and started planning for the 2017 free agency .

These teams spending money like they got their tax refund check back and pat coming through next year getting everything off the clearance rack .

Jeff Van Gundy returns to The Vertical Podcast

Jeff Van Gundy joins Adrian Wojnarowski on The Vertical Podcast to discuss the seismic Kevin Durant free agency move to the Golden State Warriors.

Van Gundy and Woj talk about the impact on the Warriors, the NBA and the Thunder --- and what it says about Durant and the league. They compare Durant’s move with LeBron James’ to the Miami Heat, and the ramifications for the league to have a powerhouse that likely has no peer. They also talk about what OKC should do next --- consider trading Russell Westbrook or not – and what would be possible destinations and packages. They also talk about the influx of money in summer free agency, and how that’ll impact teams and locker rooms next season.

I actually think Westbrook should stay & reup in OKC. They still have a pretty good team with a few good assets.

Maybe they can catch a team slipping in the future and make an upgrade down the road.
So you want that man to bank on HOPE? Because that is all that is left there.

Sources: Ray Allen's reps contact Cleveland Cavaliers on possible comeback

The representative of the future Hall-of-Fame sharpshooter Ray Allen has reached out to the Cleveland Cavaliers to inform the champs that his client is anticipating a return to basketball after a two-year hiatus, league sources informed cleveland.com.

The interest is mutual, a league source said.

Allen, 40, has also contacted the Golden State Warriors and would listen to the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs, a league source confirms. The 18-year-veteran hasn't completely come around to continuing his career.

ESPN first reported Allen's contemplation.

LeBron James has a great relationship with Allen but has not been recruiting his former teammates, I'm told.
