If Stephanie wasn't light skinned I'd be a fan. That's why Draymond gets so much love despite the dumb ish he says and does. Another reason Lebby wont reach goat- mamba status, not dark enough :lol

Pretty sure Bron is DarkSkin :lol

To expound just a bit. Why do you think the 'masses' or middle America were so quick to embrace and try to put Steph on a pedestal? He's 'safe' to them which is an entirely different discussion, but I personally think colorism amongst ourselves does unecessary damage. We already deal with enough from the outside to be hating on each other for something as petty as that. I think Michael Eric Dyson wrote a good piece addressing this on the Undefeated last summer if y'all who are uniformed or want to understand more why Bron, KD (initially), Russ etc. took to disliking Steph.

This is just way off base to me. Every great player gets put on a pedestal and usually much faster than steph. Lebron was designated as the chosen one by Sports Illustrated when he was still in high school. We never before and still haven't seen a player get exalted in the way he was before even entering the league. In the middle of Jordan's rookie year he was also on an SI cover calling him one of the greatest of all time and that dude is so black he's purple. Kobe made the all star game as a bench player with measly stats. It's not a color thing, that's nonsense and blowing it completely out of proportion. It's a helluva reach

"The politics of shade have shadowed black folk from the time we set foot in North America. Curry’s fame has upped the ante: Suspicion surrounds him because of his light skin, and because he’s been lauded by both the NBA and media establishments. The subliminal message has become explicit: Curry is a brother we may not be able to embrace because the powers that be embrace him too. Curry is not the first black man who makes some black folk uneasy because America loves him as much as we do, but he may be the most popular contemporary figure evoking that dilemma. And Curry’s color is at the heart of that dilemma."

Good looks Wavy.

It's 2017, and we still are dismissive of colorism

No it's a definitely a real thing. We just all don't think that's the reason people hate steph. Every modern superstar is hated once they reach that level. Let's not make it a different reason for him.

Man yall see some **** written by a black scholar and take it as gospel. That **** aint got nothing to do with nothing. I wouldn't give a **** if the pope wrote it. There's MORE examples of dark skinned dudes getting more praise than steph who really just blew up in the past 3 years AFTER he more than proved his worth on the court. Making something out of nothing with this colorism bs. Steph is the same dude that got dropped by Nike because they didn't think he would amount to much. Just stop it

Is colorism the main reason, Steph garners hate probably not, but to say it has NOTHING to do with it at all is just being naive.

It has as much to do with steph hate as hair plugs have to do with lebron hate. It's so insignificant and yall wanna play it up and fall right into the trap of dividing ourselves up. Stop

That's wild to me. Raised in NYC I played ball with everyone. Some of the baddest dudes I played against was white. Small minds in some people I guess

There are stories told about how guys wanted to fight Steph and Seth because they were light skin and running dudes off the court.

Them being light skin is DEFINITELY one of the reason why they aren't accepted/hated.

Don't be so naïve.

It's ONE of the reasons though. I don't think we should discount it. I'm not saying it's the SOLE reason....but it's real.

Dudes aren't labeling Steph as "soft" out of the blue. A 6'3 unatheltic, frail guard pulls down close to 6 rebounds a game....finishes at the rim at an elite level...and torches defenders from every walk of life.

Yet there a perception that he's "just a jump shooter", "not an all around player", "soft", and couldn't last in previous eras are the main criticisms that that are thrown his way.

Hate comes with the territory of being great. Let's not be blind to some of realities that go into why Steph isn't liked by some.

"You know who I hate? Jerry West. **** that chucking, front running SOB. Thinks he's so cool cuz he can shoot from far away. Not like he got more points from it anyways. Goddamn showoff. Logo my ***. He ain't even the best on his team." - Some ***** in some barbershop years ago

"This dude Jerry lost in the Finals 8 times. Not my logo"

Embiid representing the Sixers at the lottery :hat

They getting 1st & 4th :smokin

Wavy for Prez

Who's trying to divide us up? You just said it has nothing to do with it and now it's so insignificant (which implies it is there to some degree, no?)

him coming from a wealthy family has more to do with it than him being lightskin.
