the point is his word aint no better than any of us on here so why put him on a pedestal like his word means more?

that goes for every other journalist and podcaster
Except this isn't true...like at all

Their words (Not just zach) probably do mean more than ours when it comes to basketball because you know, it's their job to document the NBA in an insightful manner.

Like this is what they do

just cause you get paid to do something doesn't mean you good at it( Stephen a Smith skip bayless) or you know what you talking.

As weak of an argument as sales and popularity when it comes to "great" rappers.

Well no, that's absolutely true and ultimately, it's up to you (the listener) to determine what's good and what's just fluff / bad.

But that's with everything.

The point is, is that whether you agree or disagree with the Zach Lowe's of the world, when it comes to basketball, you can't just blindly say "their word ain't no better than any of us" when these journalists and podcasters are actually watching / analyzing the game, breaking down film, spending hours daily breaking down film, etc.

I would think that that, would hold a tad bit more weight than someone who's casually watching the game once or twice and formulating an opinion on it.

LeBatard spoke on this when ESPN where making massive cuts, and "some demographics" where crying for Michael Smith, Jemele Hill, LeBatard, Bomani, SAS, & others to be fired for "not knowing anything"

These guys were journalist for YEARS and have the footwork AND resume to have shows and talking points. It's not like they are former players or these athletes who get on TV overnight because of there name. They are some of the best in the business at what they do.

Only time these people really hold weight is if they got inside sources and **** like that, reporting a breaking story or something. Other than that they don't hold much weight. Basketball is a simple game. Fans that's been watching their whole life can break the game down just as good or better than these people.

This isn't true.

Like not even close

You're telling me that a fan just watching the game casually can break the game down just as good if not better than someone who spends hours pouring over the intricacies of the game.

Aight man.

from watching games and forming my own opinions based off what I see. Don't even care for play by play or color commentary. That's why Reggie and all the dudes people complain about don't really bother me. I tune them out.
Wish there were no announcers and we could just hear the sounds on the court.

Zach Lowe is really good at what he does. Doesn't mean we have to agree with everything he says, but he's a smart guy and puts a lot of time into his craft and does a good job at using both video and numbers in a way that's easy to understand.

Stephen A's reaction to SLAM not having Melo as a top ten player is classic though. Like his reactions are awesome man
