2020-21 NBA Offseason thread: Officially a wrap

The amount of rookies that come in ready or even willing to play NBA defense is less than 10% of the 60 draftees. In a weak draft potential is honestly what you're banking on. Melo has the highest ceiling I believe by a wide margin.

I can understand if you think Melo should go #1 but it ain't by a wide margin. :lol

I don’t get the backlash. Basketball is just like our 9-5 office jobs. I just do this because I’m good at it and I can get paid. If I were drafted in the NBA i sould leave. Doesn’t mean I’m not putting forth my best effort. There is no difference between the NBA and your job

Being an innovative, creative thinker is no different than being a crafty ball handler and being proficient in Microsoft Office is exactly the same as having solid mechanics.

You get it.

Melo da truth! Truss in Big Var 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

BALL CONTROL!

You hate the ball family with a passion but it's some truth here.
I have always maintained that Lonzo would be a high level role player. For some reason that was looked on as hate because I didn’t idiotically think he’d be the second coming of Jason Kidd.

Gotta feel bad for Gelo Ball

God blessed him with a jumper, but none of the other talents needed to get in the league like his two brothers with broken shots got

Mans just outchea getting addicted to tatts and chillin' in Bolivia

Cold World :smh:

He better parlay his brother’s success in to a job with a shoe company or something else. He gonna be like the Rob kardashian of the Ball Bros

People got used to the super polished one and dones, who give the vanilla interviews and “right” answers etc.

Edwards seem like a real, authentic 19 y.o. Teenager from Atlanta. There some stereotyping going on with Edwards too. All of this plays into it.

The nba is just like any other job without the bells and whistles.

you’ll have that group that loves the job like it truly loves them back, the group that works said Job because it simply pays the bills and funds their other interest etc, and some that just do it because they’re good at it.

But if you don’t love it you can’t be great.

Yeah give him excuses like his agents and “support staff” have. That’s gonna help him grow.

Didn’t realize they were from the same neighborhood. You know he going to feel like he got drafted for real, when he get that 4PF chain
Ain’t too worried bout yo unless he somehow finds his way to the Hawks...He got too much ATL in him to play at home and be successful  :smh:

He answered that question just like a dude from the West End and everybody “shocked” bout it n acting like it’s gon make a difference in a weak draft

Nah you've said stuff about them that wasn't basketball related.

Nah you gotta have a love for the game man. Especially as a 19 year old. Idc where you're from but if you legit tell me you rather be a rapper than a ball player I'd definitely second guess who am I investing into in a draft.

As you mature into that 25-30 range I could see all that travel, constant gym time, away from family, people asking for handouts, etc I could see it growing a toll on players. Plus them realizing its really just a business and pays for all the extra expenses. Fine. As long as the love is still there.

I remember Ayton saying he's just looking for a check too. When keeping it real goes wrong

But if you don’t love it you can’t be great.

Not all of them care to be great. Most of older players end up selling their runs and trophies.

some players are comfortable being great in their contract years and that’s it.

I agree. But that’s also why you can’t take him #1. I wouldn’t touch him in the first round with his mindset and poor pro day performance.

I gained a new level of expect for Fred Van Vleet for his honest answer in regards to free agency. Dont insult my intelligence with cliche answer.

I agree with you on this. :lol

I wouldn’t lean to heavy on that Klutch Sports Day jamboree thing they have recently.

This. And I’m not even mad at the guys who it’s just a job to. But if you’re a potential top 5 or even top 10 draft pick, even if it’s just something you’re doing because you’re good at it, you gotta make these teams think in the interviews that basketball is your passion and that you’ll be putting the work in to improve every aspect of your game.

How these guys bomb interviews is beyond me. You haven’t got drafted yet, tell these teams what they want to hear to potentially increase your draft status and get picked sooner in the draft. Once you sign that contract, you can treat basketball as if it’s just a job. But secure the most money possible first.
