2020-21 NBA Offseason thread: Officially a wrap

The college basketball game presentations have been WAY better than the bubble.

Sounds way better w/o the fake crowd noise and the benches are loud as hell. They need to keep this for the NBA.

Ben Golliver brought up a crazy stat on one of his podcasts last week: by the start of the upcoming season, John Wall would have gone longer without playing an NBA game than Jordan did during his baseball retirement.

For a player like John whose game is predicated on athleticism, there's a very high likelihood he's completely washed. At least Westbrook can make things happen

Russ had a stretch last season with the Rockets from January to the stop of play where he was putting up 30/8/6 on 51/32/75 over a 23 game span. John Wall HASNT PLAYED PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL IN TWO YEARS

but somehow the basketball purist in here are acting as if Wall is an upgrade on Russ. The Same Wall who Who can't shoot * loves to play the PG role & hold the ball & had questions about his conditioning prior to missing two years

Also Russ not being willing to take the backseat convo is overstated, he allowed PG to take over that OKC team & PG went on to finish top 5 in MVP voting playing alongside him. So much so that the Clippers gave up their future for him.

But in all seriousness VARNELL HILL VARNELL HILL wavycrocket wavycrocket frshstunna frshstunna Maximus Meridius Maximus Meridius DCAllAfrican DCAllAfrican do y'all think Rustle will fit in with the scene? John Wall was an NBA fan pop culture legend to the point that folks all over the country know about his Rosebar adventures  I guess Russ is a family man and there are several great places for him to live because he can literally live wherever he wants in the DMV  .

Hell no. Russ at this stage in life, career and talent just ain’t going to get that luv, or even look for it. And that’s fine.

Wall was perfect for DC. His pops is from DC. He one of “us” and embraced the culture and everything up and down 295. Dummy came down in traffic to watch Aquille play, multiple times. Locked in with the guys, and showed mad luv. #1 pick. Marketable, exciting and turned around a franchise in turmoil, while touching the people, being visible and staying out the way for real. Always said him & harden had parallels...but harden did it on a bigger better level. Wall not being healthy and some bad timing was rough. But ultimately, it was a cool 10 year run. Watching him improve in his careeer in real time was a joy for me. He reached the bottom half of top 10-15 player in the league at one point....and that’s great, all things considered. This is a chapter closing.

Ive seen more John Wall live games than any other basketball player in my lifetime. Russ ain’t going bring nun out.

FREE DENI!!!!

Forgot I seen Wall at the Garden on Christmas years back. Needless to say we took an L. Dont remember if Melo was playing.

I'm taking the guy who doesn't actively make my team worse. Russell Westbrook does that in games of consequence and has done so forever.

On the Paul George thing they should have never broken up cause their games just complimented each other so well. Their preferred spots on the floor didn't overlap whatsoever. And they both play flashy losing basketball so no one would have really expected anything out of them.

lol what? D Rose was an MVP and led his team to playoff victories. Not even comparable!!!
Both #1 picks. Both all rookie first team. Both hyper athletic PGs with injuries that caused them to miss 2 seasons and robbed them of their explosiveness. Neither had a consistent jumper. Neither have made it to the finals. Neither will make the HOF...In the case of DRose he will be the only former MVP to not make the HOF. The Wall/DRose parallel is more accurate than you give it credit for.

Mfers love John Wall in the area. He was the lone "star" in DC this whole decade for real. Russ is the type of player DC and PG county love though. He got fans here. His flaws and all, it is people that love that "**** you" mentality he has. That "nobody plays harder" narrative even though it's overblown and playing reckless don't = playing hard, some folks still love it. His playing style, his fashion game, Russ is box office.

Wall definitely not the lone "star" in DC assuming you're talking all sports. Probably not a ton of hockey fans in here, myself included, but Ovechkin is probably an even bigger star than Wall. Caps been selling out like every home game since he got drafted.
