Zach Lowe was on a recent Pod of his with Bobby Marks pretty much alluding to the same thing. Even went as far as saying that some of the GM's/owners are even telling players the same thing. Take the money & if things go left at least the team can gain assets back, which beats them straight up leaving in FA for nothing.
I know some owners may be pissed, but The NBA as a whole benefits from this. Zach said July is bigger for the NBA news cycle than any other part of the year, including the finals. It keeps the league in the forefront for another month or two after the season ends. This trend ain't going nowhere.
