I see this narrative going around and I’m not buying it.

I think it says more about people that so many are used to “from the trenches, single mom, no dad, had to eat sugar sandwiches” narrative that’s been spammed to death. as if that was ever the dominant stereotypical background of an NBA player.

We see a few drafts highlighting parents, particularly the presence of black fathers and suddenly the kid from the trenches is in trouble  :smh:

Stanley Cup playoffs are highly sports entertaining man.
early rds are insane as well. lots of gm 7s and upsets.
teams can definitely comeback and are not really out of the series.
get a hot goalie and anything can happen

on the business side, thought they did a great job inking tv deals with turner and espn

in my opinion, best trophy in sports

I agree with this but I really do think it's an issue for all sports, and most professions at that too.

this is Chris Everett
What makes the "insult" dumb is that Chris is top 3 (I'd argue 2) in her sport all time. Outside of "ha ha, I called you a woman," the insult just doesn't make sense.

I think people exaggerate the degree this stereotype was ever true.
i don't think this has been the case since basically the 90's

the real change is urban to suburban kids.

looking at the stats

the demographic with the best chance of making it to the NBA is a middle to upper middle class suburban black kid

and the worst chance is the poor white kid.

This is the first draft I noticed where most picks parent played professionally at some level

The tweet was moreso a reflection on the current state of youth sports in total, not just for NBA players. How cost, development and opportunity has changed in the past 15-20 years.

The NBA has always been a blue blood, connections and deep pockets game to get drafted. However for the mass majority, the scene has changed.

I think the making fun of my name and my family argument is dumb. Making fun of a name would be like making fun of Rudy Gay’s last name for being well, you know.

Bosh Spice, Westbrick is still more of an attack on a players game. Klank Thompson. Just an witty way to make fun of someone, in my opinion. Taking it up the whole family tree though. :lol

I’m still not buying this. These superstar kids don’t pay for anything and haven’t for a while. There isn’t some guy out there just as nice as _____ that didn’t make it because he didn’t have the connections. If you’re that nice, they’ll find you. Word to Giannis. Look at where they found Ja morant.

The cream always rises to the top

This Grizzlies team talks too much. One over achieving year and they think they’re hot ****. Give me the Conley-Tony Allen-Zbo-Gasol team over this any day.
