It's taxing on his body to go against even the average centers like Steven Adams and Zubac because they got 2+ inches and 15+ lbs on him.

Physicality. He's better as a weak side defender when it comes to protecting the paint therefore he needs a center who can hold down the Fort against other centers

AD has played well in the pre-season but you can still see the added muscle has sapped some pop from his athleticism (with the recent injuries?).
Playing at PF also allows him to roam more on the court, whereas he's a C he has to be near the basket as the lone deterrent. But playing C maximized the team's offense. Tough to juggle.
