You and rolaholic rolaholic must have missed the thread title.

6 firsts is wild, and won't happen, but to be fair, Ainge isn't asking for any players of value. None of those Knicks players are worth much.
This is prob the most annoying thing about the Gobert trade. They say he got a haul. 4 random players and 4 picks.

If KD gets you Siakim or Ingram, those are real players. All nba type players. Those are worth 3 picks by themselves. With that said, ingeam ans 3 picks is better than Beverley and 5 picks.

Nobody in media is talking about this.

If BKN wanted a pick heavy trade: the suns couls make a trade tomorrow for him. Similar to NOLA. Just send expiring deals and 7 picks. Easily

Yep.

If RJ isn't in the deal, it SHOULD be a lot of picks. None of the other guys have value.

Say what you want about his handling of the war chest but if you would pick any GM to assemble one, it is Danny Ainge. Picks in and of themselves are cool but in theory but unless you are convinced you have an elite scouting department, there is a much slimmer chance of finding a gem the further you get outside of the lottery. Ainge knew what the future would hold for BK when he made that trade so he must have the utmost faith that JB/Spida/RJ through 2029 will give him several high lottery picks.

Biggest difference is that the Cs only has one down year after unloading their stars (resulting in Marcus Smart) and have not missed the playoffs since. In Utah, I think they will be so bad they will end up in the lottery for a few years…and the Knicks will too so he will have two chances now. I am not high on the Minny FRPs being anywhere within the Top 18-20 (assuming they live up to their potential)

In theory, this all makes sense, and I can see the dots connecting.

But I would have to say Ainge got lucky with the BK trade. Had that team gelled, maybe fortunes would've turned the other way around?

We'll never know for sure, but we do know Ainge always has a tendency to hoard picks, Hell, that's what the Knicks are doing now, and able to send picks to Utah.

I suspect at the end of it, the Knicks will be sending 4 picks (but I believe they have 7 or something). Which is still worth the deal. You have to bet on yourself.

this is like when dudes in my fantasy league get disrespectful and send me wild trade proposals i.e ayton and russ for giannis with some slick *** message like “you’d be winning in rebounds and assists with these two!”

People think Ainge ripped off a couple of terrible GMs and now he can get away with anything. **** him.

Funny how that rumored trade doesn’t even include that bum Cam Reddish.

The Knicks own all their first round picks from 2023-2029. They can trade 2023, 2025, 2027, 2029 and pick swap 2024, 2026, 2028.

Then they own these first round picks from other teams:

2023 first round draft pick from Dallas
Dallas' 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-10 in 2023, 1-10 in 2024 and 1-10 in 2025; if Dallas has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2025, then Dallas will instead convey its 2025 2nd round pick to New York [Dallas-New York, 1/31/2019]

2023 first round draft pick from Detroit

Detroit's 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-18 in 2023, 1-18 in 2024, 1-13 in 2025, 1-11 in 2026 and 1-9 in 2027; if Detroit has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2027, then Detroit will instead convey its 2027 2nd round pick to New York (via Houston to Oklahoma City) [Detroit-Houston, 11/24/2020; Houston-Oklahoma City, 7/30/2021; New York-Oklahoma City, 6/23/2022]

2023 first round draft pick from Washington

Washington's 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-14 in 2023, 1-12 in 2024, 1-10 in 2025 and 1-8 in 2026; if Washington has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2026, then Washington will instead convey its 2026 2nd round pick and 2027 2nd round pick to New York (via Houston to Oklahoma City) [Houston-Washington, 12/2/2020; Houston-Oklahoma City, 7/30/2021; New York-Oklahoma City, 6/23/2022]

2025 first round draft pick from Milwaukee

Milwaukee's 2025 1st round pick to New Orleans protected for selections 5-30 or to New York protected for selections 1-4 (Milwaukee's obligation to New Orleans or New York will thereafter be extinguished) (via New Orleans to Portland to Detroit to New York) [Denver-Milwaukee-New Orleans-Oklahoma City, 11/23/2020; New Orleans-Portland, 2/8/2022; Detroit-Portland, 7/6/2022; Detroit-New York, 7/6/2022]

The owed picks somewhat stink. Dallas pick will be in the 20s. Detroit's pick might come in 2025/2026. Maybe with some luck the Washington pick comes over in the next two years. If Giannis is still in Milwaukee in 2025, that pick will be in the 20s.

But that's assuming Utah accepts the owed picks and not four Knicks picks instead with two owed picks from the other teams.

I think he’s getting lucky with Utah trades too

Found two desperate teams to fleece. Wolves and Knicks. Both had an irrational love for the two Utah stars and both sucked for so long they are blind for stardom

like having to live with your ex for a few months after the break up because yall need to finish out the year lease

sarver and the suns FO made this mess and they deserve to be in it. props to Ayton for gettin his bag tho.
What’s worse is, if they trade Ayton to a place he doesn’t want to go. He can veto the trade lol
