Lol at 90s rap. Rap is just like basketball, the early stuff we just need to ignore it. We all know it doesn't count but refuse to admit it because of legacy. I don't see the appeal of people rapping off beat and going hip hop bop you don't stop. Rapping badly about nothing.
This🎯
while getting paid pennies by Jewish execs 🤢
Dudes up early 💩'n on 90s rappers :smh:

Yall must have had to eat leftover oatmeal for breakfast

****** way richer than back then

I don’t know which era is back then. Don’t know the full specs of these deals but guys were moving units 25 years ago. Corporate money is better now and smaller artists are more tangible but a dude like noreaga sold 700k records his debut album. Artist budgets were wild. Advance $ was ridiculous. Producers were getting huge $ for beats.

@moe200069 @ICE CITY CF @2pacalypsenow

Mad Oak used to be my spot to go watch Warriors games :frown: Didn’t know so many other NTers go there too. I stopped watching games there when you had to start getting there hours early just to get a decent spot to sit, otherwise you’d have to stand the entire time; is it still like that?

I miss the atmosphere, but I’m too lazy to go through all that effort to watch games these days

I slid to Mad Oak earlier this year in March. An NTer recommended me to go. It was a nice vibe in there. Caught the Dubs vs Spurs game that went down to the wire but they ended up losin when Spurs scored off a missed free throw with like 2 seconds left. Drinks were good and food was decent as well. Will double back again soon.

Nore, himself, is saying how crazy these young ****** getting paid, on camera

I think that's not what he's saying. More so that people tend to glorify that "Golden Era" as if all them ****** were dropping fire when they did, in fact, drop quite a good chunk of doodoo while posing like bonified wordsmith
That's... happening now, though.

"Green Gators, they look like a switch.
Giorgio, I spent 26 licks.
I’m too sexy.
My neck, baguettes.
Molest me, caress me
I’ll let you, todayski.
I been kicking ****,
Might need a prosthetic."

🤣😬🤦‍♂️

These two 🐐 never proclaimed themselves to be rhyme gurus tho

I mean michael jordan the greatest player of all time is from the 90's

and we supposed to ignore that era?

You're missing the mark. Those early rappers are basically Bob Cousy. Bob Cousy shot 37% from the field for his career. Bob Cousy wasn't nice. He was just lucky to be there.

That's just me though everyone can cook and do what they want. The beauty of the iPod Era is that you are the curator of your own playlist for the majority of your music consumption.

and that was the hottest verse on that track

Fair point.

So if someone has subpar lyrics and people think they are a GOAT but they never proclaim THEMSELVES to be lyrical assassins, that is superior to someone else with subpar lyrics who is also considered a GOAT and also said they are a master wordsmith?

You can pick out trash lyrics from every era. It’s old head energy saying music is better from the past. It’s young dude energy to dismiss older music. Just need to enjoy what you enjoy.
This always gets me. Dudes be writing whole paragraphs about stuff they don't like and "Don't listen to". Won't be ME

What’s early rap to you? Kool moe dee? Grandmaster flash?

To be clear, I'm not dismissing anything current. My point is simply that nothing has changed. My point aligns with what you're saying, that it's foolish to say 'Now is better!' or 'Back then was better!'

I do hate... HAAATE... autotune, though. I'll die on that hill.

Yup, all those hippity hoppity dudes. It doesn't move me personally, can't rock with it.

That’s fair. That’s before my time. My first exposure was DJ quik, cube and DEATHROW. Then some LL. That made IMO has aged well. At least some of it. But then I’ll still check for a new artist too. Trying not to be a young old head like nick. nick.

It’s hard to compare the super early days tho, that was just the start and everything was new…Shout out to the OG’s for laying the foundation :hat

All I'm saying, on this recurring topic, is some old heads revere this era based off sentimentalism and nostalgia as if it was peak era whereas it was just the beginning or early stage of this culture.
Were there some good MCs? Some of the greats. Were there trash rappers? Way more than the 40+ crowd's willing to admit.
This era we're in has wack and terrible rappers too

Just need to enjoy what you enjoy.
In a nutshell
