Ben Wallace took up 15% of the cap last two years in Detroit,
they were contenders both years and one year they made the finals.
Rudy is way way better offensive player and currently takes up 10% more.
I wouldn't describe 10% more as "not even close" but even ignoring that
If you believe that Rudy is worth maximum 15% of the cap, (I don't)
You're telling me you can't win a ring with a 10% overpay?
Like I said all it takes is one good player on a rookie deal to make for that wasted value.
The idea that Rudy current salary is such a anchor that it just makes it so hard to win ring is just crazy.
I bet you can find 10% of wasted value on just about every finals team.
Marc Gasol was paid 22% of the salary cap to be a solid starter for the raptors championship team.

Again those examples you bring up are moot because of who else was on that roster. If you give Gobert: Giannis or Kawhi, yeah I'm gonna give them a great chance for a ring
