Any sites that previews the teams' upcoming season?

I remember the sporting news would do it.

Do you guys think a bunch of these free agents are gonna sign 1 year deals and just re-try next offseason?

Or is this the new “analytics” approach from teams

I think many will sign a 1-year and a multi-year deal with an opt-out after 1. Many of these players are over-pricing themselves, especially the older ones looking for long term deals.

I love the Mets deal with Gonzo, paying him $550k while Atlanta has to pay him the remaining 20+million

That's definitely part of it but I think it's mostly teams wanting to have as much money as possible for the big FA class next winter
And the new FA system where you lose a pick if you sign a tendered guy playa a role too. Players have so much less leverage. Free agency has been neutered.

But if this is happening now, what’s to say teams won’t do the same going forward?

Teams are re-setting luxury tax values this year, they are going to blow those taxes out next year.

It's cyclical. Look at International spending. You have X amount. Teams figured out if you go beyond it, it's a one year penalty. Well, go over by 10K, or say **** it and go over it by 2-3 million and sign multiple prospects? Still just 1 year penalty either way.

Teams stayin cheap this year, will go ALLLLLLL out in November for this class.

Then maybe a little quieter the year after.
