Idk whether or not LeBron really IS coming to NYC but I was never banking on the whole "Nike Bonus" to be something that would make or break the likelihood of him being here..What would the bonus have been? 5 mil or so? i was banking on nike giving him a lot more money.
so i think this is a huge problem. if he doesn't get more from nike, i don't see the endorsement argument. but i think having a bonus for going to a different team is tampering. maybe he get more money for selling a quota of shoes? or gets more of a % made off shoes now? need to see this contract vs the old one.
we need figures and numbers and other language. but if theres nothing to somehow compensate him, i'm giving up on him coming here.

James Dolan sidesteps Knicks reporters on Monday after he visits the team in Utah.
PORTLAND - James Dolan made a surprise visit to Utah on Monday to spend the night with his basketball team in the dying days of another lost season.
The chairman of Madison Square Garden chatted with Mike D'Antoni on the bench before the game while a few members of the Knicks' massive traveling party jockeyed for position to get face time with the man who signs their checks. It was all quite entertaining.
Dolan eventually ducked into the locker room to informally greet the players. And as reporters waited for a possible audience, a nervous media relations employee warned them that trying to interview Dolan would be a huge mistake, whatever that means.
On Sunday, the soon-to-be Nets owner, Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, was profiled on "60 Minutes." By Monday, Dolan, the son of a billionaire, wouldn't grant one second to the media.
It has been this way now for three years. Dolan's last informal sit-down with Knick reporters took place on the day he rewarded Isiah Thomas with a contract extension as the Knicks held the eighth and final playoff spot for 24 hours. The team and Dolan haven't been the same since.
Dolan's media boycott should not imply that he is a hands-off owner. On the contrary, he is still very active in the day-to-day operations of the team.
It was Dolan who threatened to fine Eddy Curry last October if the veteran center did not meet a weight requirement. Dolan also put the kibosh on the Knicks signing Allen Iverson. In keeping with his private persona, Dolan was not seeking credit for either decision, even though both moves made sense.
Then again, it was at Donnie Walsh's introductory press conference two years ago when Dolan, reading from a prepared statement, stressed that the Knicks' new team president had full autonomy. Clearly, Dolan has his own ideas of what autonomy really means.
Dolan insisted that Thomas, the deposed president and coach, remain in the role of a consultant and had Thomas not became the coach at FIU last spring he would have remained with the organization. Walsh made a few additions to the scouting department and front office, but other firings and hirings were vetoed by Dolan, according to a team source.
Dolan, however, did not stand in the way of Walsh re-signing Nate Robinson even though Dolan made it clear that he didn't want the diminutive guard to return. Robinson, of course, was traded to Boston six weeks ago.
The Robinson situation seems to be a case of Dolan expressing an opinion but leaving room for doubt. Another example was the team's pursuit of Iverson. In November, according to the same source, Dolan became enraged when The News reported that he recommended to Walsh that he not sign Iverson. An internal investigation was launched to reveal the source of the leak. Dolan, via a team official, believed he had the culprit and told Walsh to terminate the employee. Walsh refused, citing insufficient evidence.
From all indications, Dolan remains supportive of both Walsh and D'Antoni even though the new regime is on the verge of losing 50 or more games for a second straight season, something the club hasn't done in 24 years. Dolan believes the duo has the Knicks on the right path.
Maybe that's why Dolan turned the other cheek when, according to a source, Walsh became aware that D'Antoni's agent was talking to other team executives and trying to initiate a trade for Al Harrington. Four years ago, Dolan fired Larry Brown for similar transgressions. But in this case, the potential controversy was defused when D'Antoni told Harrington that he wasn't trying to trade him.
Has Dolan gone soft? Hardly. Except for Allan Houston and Garden executive Jason Vogel, just about every Knicks employee seemed anxious around Dolan on Monday. Only the media were excited to see him.
And Dolan couldn't have cared less.

Free-agents-to-be Kyle Korver and Marcus Camby will be of interest to the Knicks this off-season.
The Knicks feel that the three-point shooting abilities of Kyle Korver and Danilo Gallinari will allow Mike D'Antoni to re-institute his speedball attack.
Camby would fit the Knicks' need for a shotblocking center.

Tracy McGrady said on Wednesday that he is interested in signing next season with Orlando.
"Of course because it's home, that's home," McGrady said. "I hated it that I left. I hated I left because I established myself there and made a name for myself. It was a situation where the GM [John Weisbrod] that was there made a huge mistake."
Weisbrod, whose has since been fired, traded McGrady in 2004 in a deal for Steve Francis.
"They got him out of there because he was out of his mind," McGrady said of Weisbrod.

....while I understand you'd want to play in your hometown and on a contender, it probably would've been best if you had stated this in the beginning. This is only going to bring a negative reaction from the fans.
Of course, I don't know what context this was said in, it could be the media twisting things in their favor as usual. But McGrady has yet to learn media savvy, which is part of the reason as to why he has his current reputation.

Wow. Yao? Are you guys serious? Yao is an elephant on rollerskates. He can't take a step without breaking his foot. I want no part of that. Or Kyle Korver with his 2005 haircut. I would be delighted with Camby, though. I had the biggest crush on him when he was on the Knicks.

say word. and lets not also look past the fact that the Jets only make up half of the tri state fan base, and most heads in like upstate NY ride with the Bills. The Knicks got NY on lock, and NY is a basketball city before anything, AND the Knicks have NEVER had a player considered the best in the league. Lebrons marketability will unlike any athlete ever seen ever IMO (yes, more than MJ or Tiger) if he came to NY. If he stayed in Cleveland, his marketability would never reach as high as Jordans was. If he wants to surpass a guy like MJ as the most marketable player in sports history, hed have to be in NY. Not to say he wouldnt sell in Cleveland, he already does, but not like MJ.
And Camby man back in NY... hellssss yes.
Camby was my favorite back in the day, and this summer we are gonna sign a bunch of young dudes who score alot (no matter who it is) it wouldnt be the worst thing to sign a veteran who has Knicks ties and also does not need the ball to be effective. Camby does EXACTLY what we will be looking for in a center. Even if its only for 2 years or so.
