Unfiltered Oakley Rips the Knicks
By HOWARD BECK
If the Knicks are counting on their esteemed alumni to sell LeBron James on the glory of New York, they should choose carefully. Charles Oakley won’t offer much of an endorsement.

In a freewheeling radio interview Friday morning, Oakley – who lives near James and socializes with him regularly – said James should play for the Chicago Bulls or the Miami Heat. He had nothing positive to say about the Knicks, his former team.

“I can’t tell him to come to New York, because New York treated me bad,’’ Oakley told Sid Rosenberg of WQAM in Miami, according to a transcript at SportsRadioInterviews.com.

Oakley was referring to his recent visits at Knicks games, not his 10-year career with the franchise.

“I had a great time in New York,’’ he said. “I still go back and show my love and do things in the city. But the Knicks just don’t like me no more.’’

Oakley was referring to the games he has attended at Madison Square Garden in recent years.

“When I go to the Knicks games, do you know that they have somebody that follows me around to see what I say to the press?’’ Oakley said.

When Rosenberg joked about fans cringing at Oakley’s jump shot, Oakley turned it into a critique of the current Knicks.

“If they said ‘ooh-ahh’ about me, what about the guys they got shooting the ball now? I mean, they can’t even shoot now,’’ Oakley said. He added, “If they think they’re watching basketball now, they really don’t understand basketball.’’

He was just as unfiltered on other topics. He ripped Dwight Howard, the Orlando Magic center, for being a poor student. Howard’s chief mentor in Orlando is Patrick Ewing, Oakley’s friend and former teammate.

“Dwight Howard is embarrassing Patrick, if you ask me,’’ Oakley said, adding: “They say he won’t listen. Dwight won’t listen. How can you not listen to Patrick Ewing?

Great writing right here, repeating the same thought in two different ways.
Wesley Claims LeBron Leaning Strongly Toward Bulls
Jun 05, 2010 10:48 PM EST

James_LeBron_cle.jpg
According to Yahoo! Sports, William Wesley "has been telling everyone that he believes LeBron James is leaning hard toward signing with the Chicago Bulls."

Wesley is a member of James' inner circle.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that GM Gar Forman may not have been sold on Tom Thibodeau as the team's new head coach but owner Jerry Reinsdorf made the final hiring decision. Thibodeau is represented by Wesley's agency.

An executive whose team has significant salary cap space told Wojnarowski that he believes the major deals will be agreed to before the top free-agents-to-be ever officially become free agents.

"I think all the big free-agent deals will be done by July 1, if not the draft. The NBA would have a cow if [it] knew what's going on now," the executive said.

Pat Riley is planning to pitch James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade on taking less than maximum-salary contracts to play together in Miami. Riley is also intrigued by the possibility of bringing in Ray Allen.

Meanwhile, it was reportedly made clear by James' inner circle that he wanted both Mike Brown and Danny Ferry to be removed from their positions with the Cavaliers.

"LeBron never had to come out and say that he wanted Brown and Ferry gone," said a team executive familiar with the dynamic in Cleveland's front office. "But the anti-Brown and anti-Ferry sentiment from LeBron's crowd was loud and clear to Dan Gilbert. He knew where LeBron stood."

Wojnarowski writes that Gilbert is willing to do whatever James asks to keep the superstar in Cleveland, which contributed to Ferry's unhappiness in his position.

"Danny's been miserable for the past two years," a friend of Ferry told Yahoo! Sports. "Even if they kept LeBron, do you still lose for winning there anyway?"

Wojnarowski reports that Gilbert is determined to hire Tom Izzo, but would hire John Calipari upon James' request.

I NEED MY OWN "GASOL."

as a basketball decision, financial decision, going down as a legend decision, it makes the most sense for him to come to ny with bosh.
I don't know how they can NOT think this way... I'm positive Walsh will speak on that but.. wateva we'll see

I'm willing to juss move on to Dirk & Bosh..

I cant see how he'd play with the Bulls, after all that trash talking between Noah and Lebron, etc.

I wouldnt mind a Dirk and Bosh, however Dirk isnt leaving Dallas, and not to mention hes getting a bit...old.

Dirk is getting old, but his game don't rely on athleticism at all, he got a couple more good years on him.

I know he said he would take a pay cut to help Dallas get a better team..

I doubt he's leaving Dallas... but if he does and somehow came here.. think he would take a cut big enough for us to resign Lee too?

probably not

+%+% these rumors.. Here's another one
Source: LeBron, Bosh Seriously Considering Joining Wade In Miami
According to "an NBA source close to the discussions," LeBron James and Chris Bosh are seriously considering joining Dwyane Wade to play together in Miami.

All three would have to take significant pay cuts to play for the Heat. Miami is expected to have salary cap space for more than two maximum-salary contracts but well short of enough room for three.

The Post’s Steve Serby chatted with the Knicks president about the team’s plans to land LeBron James and other big-name free agents.

Q: At 12:01 a.m. on July 1, where exactly will you be?

A: Well, I’ll either be on the phone (chuckles), or I’ll be going to somebody’s house or something like that. But literally, you cannot set up a meeting until 12:01 on July 1. So, if you do go to somebody’s home, then you’re just taking the chance they want you to and so . . .

Q: You can still be in position in somebody’s backyard at 12:01, you just can’t call them?

A: That’s right. You can’t set it up.

Q: You can already be there, right?

A: And of course, we’d all welcome that in America — somebody (showing) up in their backyard at 12:01 in the morning.

Q: That’s what Rex Ryan did to recruit Bart Scott.

A: There’s some guys that will work with (you) and some guys who’ll . . . throw their dogs out at ya (chuckles).

Q: But it’s possible you could be in another city . . .

A: Yeah, it’s possible.

Q: How did you recruit your wife, Judy?

A: I just went after her. I mean, I knew from the first minute I saw her — that’s the girl I’m gonna marry. I was 14, she was 12. So I can also pick a prospect out (chuckles). . . . She used to go to church every day. And so I started to go to church every day, not just on Sunday. And as she walked down toward her house, she’d go to a candy store (Beckerman’s), where you could get coffee and stuff like that. So I planned it, I caught up with her and said, “Hey, would you like to get a coke or a cup of coffee?

"has been telling everyone that he believes LeBron James is leaning hard toward signing with the Chicago Bulls."

wait a minute. world wide wes... the guy who lurks in the shadows and prefers to do business out of the spotlight is "telling everyone" lebron's plans like a gossiping school girl? even what Wes said about lebron going to the knicks years ago was a cryptic comment, not him running around blabbing. doesn't make much sense. unless he just did that to get thibbs the bulls job.

i think this is deliberate. i don't know what all the motivations and schemes are to making people think the knicks have no shot, but i have a few ideas.

moving curry's contract at the draft would be much easier if it looks like the knicks have no shot at getting Bron and Bosh. there would be nobody blackballing walsh. the mor eobvious reason is come July 1st Bron will have even more leverage over Dolan and Walsh if it looks like it isn't just a two team race between CLE and NYC. hell he may even want MSG stock to stay level or go down at the moment before he can buys any. i have no idea.

That pay cut that Lebron and Bosh would take wouldn't be that big of a pay-cut since there's no income tax in Miami. I'd have to think if they signed Lebron and Bosh, Beasley would be on the way out.

I'm no miami fan, but damn if i wouldn't like to see some super team. This wouldn't be like that Lakers experiment, all these dudes in their prime.

Look, I don't know about you guys but I just think our chances are not looking that great right now.
tired.gif

The only way I see us getting the big prize is if we snag Chris Bosh first.

we gotta improve our team by draft night as well. Time for Donnie Walsh to get creative and make a move without hurting our cap space.

maybe I'm talking nonsense right now but damn........

dude all of the knicks rumors will start coming out a week before july 1st.

when have we EVER gotten hyped in the media and something good actually happened for us? you don't remember the summer? every single time the pressed hyped us up for weeks. we got nobody. This is good for us to fly under the radar.

you really don't think lebron and bosh wil speak to each other before signing? they are well aware of the opportunity. i'm sure bosh is included in all of walsh's plans. if he doesn't come now, then he was never planning on coming, and we had zero percent chance of getting him.

the bulls would have to do a sign & trade to get Bosh paired up with Lebron, right?

the fact that people might have an influence on Lebron worries me. Oakley of all people..

yes they would and it would have to be henrich or deng and his awful contract which means it ain't happening unless a third team gets involved

people are making it sound as if sign and trades are easy as hell to pull off. nonsense.

and yeah @@#% these old heads. i couldn't care less about them anymore. they are basically saying they don't want the knicks to ever be a championship team.

I was thinking.. I'm sorry but if Bulls pull off Turkoglu and Bosh for Hinrich and Deng... game over...
Jay-Z Won't Hard Sell LeBron On Nets
Jun 06, 2010 9:47 AM EST
Jay-Z, a minority owner of the Nets, said he will not try to persuade LeBron James to join the team as a free agent this summer.

"That's his decision," Jay-Z said. "We're friends - we've still gotta hang out! I don't want to convince somebody to do something, then have to see him and say, 'Uh, yeah, we're 4-30 ... sorry.'"
Cavs' Source: LeBron Likes Chicago, Bulls' Roster
Jun 06, 2010 9:36 AM EST

A Cavs' source tells Frank Isola that LeBron James has always enjoyed the city of Chicago and is impressed with the Bulls' young nucleus of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

Hinrich isnt hard to move. He may be overpaid, but he gets the job done.

and i dont see how this team can get exponentially better by draft night unless we take back a long term contract.

yeeupp, you're not making this easy for me
