Tyson Chandler May Become Free Agent
Jun 11, 2010 4:17 PM EST

Bobcats center Tyson Chandler is seriously considering exercising the early termination option in his contract, a source told ESPN.com's Chad Ford.

If he does so, he'll give up the $12.6 million he's scheduled to earn in 2010-11 and would become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

Chandler has struggled over the last two seasons, but the source says he's finally completely healthy.

"He's gotten all of his issues taken care of," the source said, "and he's gearing up to have a big year next season. I think you're going to see the same Tyson who played so well for the Hornets a few years ago."

Mo, Varejao, Aged bigs cmon

We have young talent, we have the $, and the genius behind the boards to make moves, whereas the Cavs utterly failed in putting together a core to surround lebron on the way to a championship

I believe he's leaving, hopefully it's here, but he ought to distance himself from that organization
man ive been slacking but yeah, on point right here. I love how the media makes it out to be like it would be some HUGE project turning us around, when he already has had the best record in the NBA 2 years straight with a team full of #%#%. Not saying they are elite, but imo i can safely say that our core > Clevland's minus Bron, ALSO we have the $ to bring in a guy like Chris Bosh. Show me a guy who thinks that winning with the Knicks core of Gallo (a PERFECT compliment to Bron because of his shooting as i have mentioned numerous times, 3 players on the Cavs were top 10 in 3point % and none of which are even half the shooter that Gallo is), Will (a guy who can get into the lane and help take some of the pressure off Lebron or worst comes to worse package in a deal for a PG), and Lee (a LEGIT NBA All-Star which the Cavs dont have if we can get him back here), PLUS Chris Bosh (an all-NBA caliber player and an Olympic gold medalist which the Cavs certainly do not have and have no cap and therefore no chance of getting)... is more of a project than winning with the cavs old, expensive, and untalented core, and ill show you a hater.

I'd love to get Tyson Chandler on this team, but he's going to have to be reasonable with his contract, and I don't know how reasonable he's going to be if he's turning down 12 mil.

^werd.. if he's turning down 12.6 to opt for free agency.. i'd like to see him in blue&orange.. but not for the money he's going to be looking for.

Tyson isnt going to be reasonable. he wants long term stability and that money before the CBA.

i also, as well, came in to say nate TOO nasty with the ball.

i cheer everytime he makes a bucket, but then i realize i hated boston and want them to lose, even more then the cavs losing.
Gallinari: Best supporting factor for LeBron
By Tom Haberstroh
In this ESPN Insider piece laying out the Knicks’ free agent sales pitch, Chad Ford says the Knicks’ current supporting cast will be a big part of the courtship:

"The idea is to let LeBron or Wade handle the ball and surround them with long, athletic players who can spread the floor, opening up the lane for penetration and kickouts. In a column last week, John Hollinger used a statistical breakdown to describe a similar strategy, and the Knicks concur ...

"In particular, the Knicks believe 21-year-old Danilo Gallinari, who was second in the NBA in 3-pointers made (186-for-488, 38.1 percent), and 23-year-old Wilson Chandler, a slashing wing player who shot 52.4 percent on field goals inside the arc, would thrive alongside a star playmaker."

Chandler may be a fantastic finisher at the rim, but the real carrot here is Gallinari. He will help usher in a new, more efficient brand of Knicks basketball, a style that made Mike D’Antoni the most sought after coach in the game.

Knicks fans might glance at Gallinari’s .423 field goal percentage and counter with skepticism, but reducing Gallinari down to that one number completely ignores why he’s one of the most valuable commodities in the game. Guess how many players in the history of the NBA have maintained a .381 3-point percentage on at least 400 3-pointers over a course of a season? 83. And guess how many were 21 years old? Just Gallinari. He’s as efficient as they come.

Gallinari offers something that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade have never had: a real stretch four. Sure, James had Antawn Jamison this year and Wade has had Michael Beasley but they can’t shoot it like Gallinari. Despite his sharpshooter reputation, Jamison grades out as an average 3-point shooter at his very best and became a liability on both ends of the floor in the playoffs. Beasley took a big step back in his second-year, shooting just .275 on 3-pointers while only taking about one 3-pointer per game. But Gallinari, on the other hand, represents the very best in the game.

The scariest part is that Gallinari has been this deadly from downtown without an offensive force to consistently draw his defender away to double team. But with James, Wade, Chris Bosh and Amar'e Stoudemire all on the table this summer, that’s about to change. And so will everyone’s appreciation for Danilo Gallinari.
MSG Could Give LeBron His Own Show
Jun 12, 2010 11:31 AM EST

James_LeBron_cle.jpg
MSG, the Knicks' cable network, could give LeBron James his own show if the superstar signs with the Knicks this summer.

"We've always tried to provide a way for our viewers to get to know the players in unique ways," MSG executive Dan Ronanye told the New York Post. "We're open to looking at any opportunities."

Ok so we can

1 - sign Lebron and the player he most wanna play with (Bosh) off the bat.
2 - Offer him a show on MSG,
3 - We have a good young slasher and great shooter Chandler/Gallo
4 - Hopefully try to get him into stock
5 - NYC is one of the top two cities in the USA, although our team sucked for a while...but that's alot of potential $ he can make

We could trade Curry and a second rounder or 2 for Tyson and Collison.

if you are in the camp who thinks his decision is more than a basketball move, then coming to NYC is a no brainier. his team is doing everything to persuade people that it's 100% a basketball move. I just don't believe that for a second.

at this point we have to throw all our resources at determining how we get Bosh here to play the role of Robin.

anybody who tells you bron/bosh/gallo isn't a championship contender is lying. it's a top 4 team in the NBA before any other moves are even made.

You mean a three way trade? Cuz Collison is on NO and Tyson is on the Bobcats.

Maybe Augustin

yup. this is what ive been saying. Gallo shot so well from 3 without anyone to draw defense away and with %@#%*%% Duhon running the point. 3 players on the Cavs were in the top 10 in #-point % and none are even close to the shooter that Gallo already is at 21. Pair him with Lebron in a Mike D'Antoni offense and its over.

Caught me slippin. I was thinkin Okafor and Collison. But yea, Curry and Chandler could get us Ty if we really think he'll stay healthy. I'd rather us push for Collison than a Charlotte guard.

i dont care what anyone says but Wil Chandler is nice... he was recovering from an injury from the beginning to mid of last season. If we trade him, i want a PG

Players with Trade Restrictions

Tyson Chandler from Charlotte

Chandler is in the last non-exercisable year of his contract and cannot be traded. However, next season is currently an early termination option and if is not exercised, then the player can be traded.

The way I understood it: he jumped into the conversation, because out of nowhere he wanted to opt-out of his last year.

Players with options have until June 30 to opt out of their contracts. If they opt out, they're free agents starting July 1.

Ahhh. So the only way we could get 2 maxes and Tyson is if Charlotte re-signed, then sign and traded for Curry and a second rounder. Curry's still an expiring, so maybe Charlotte brings in another team to get a piece for him.
Hornets May Make Collison Available
The Hornets are back in luxury tax territory heading into the 2010-11 season and Marc Stein of ESPN.com writes that they will likely be active on the trade market.

Rival teams will try to convince New Orleans to trade Chris Paul, but it's much more likely that they'll part with promising backup point guard Darren Collison.

Stein writes that the Hornets will likely ask any team interested in Collison to also take one of their cap-clogging contracts -- Emeka Okafor, James Posey or Peja Stojakovic.

Curry's expiring for Okafor and Collison?

nice if that happened.. we get a good young PG, and a decent C who plays D.. for nothing

if we don't sign any big FA then we would have to deal with him for like 4 yrs...

@ least we can keep Lee and at PF
ohwell.gif

Okafor is only one inch taller than Lee at 6'10,

If we get him and Bosh, that's a C-PF-SF at 6'10...

Today Tracy McGrady was in Milan attending and playing in the Adidas 5 United Tour and had a meeting with journalist talking on his future, his experience with Knicks and Danilo Gallinari, the Italian forward who plays with NY. "I don't know anything about my future" said McGrady who was traded to Knicks during the regular season. "And I think I am not going to take a decision since all the big free agents will choose their next destination. Then I will see where I can fit. D'Antoni? I don't know him very well as the other Italians in NBA. I know Danilo Gallinari. He is a big talent and can be soon an All-Star" added t-Mac who finished talking about the NBA Finals "Boston will win in 7 games and Rajon Rondo will be the MVP". Sportando.net

The Knicks need a point guard for next season and Rafer Alston is ready to offer his services. Alston, who averaged 8.2 points and 3.4 assists while splitting last season with the Miami Heat and the Nets, said in an exclusive interview Friday night that he wants to play for his hometown team next season. “I’m a free agent. I’m hoping I can play here in New York…the Knicks,
