After the parenthesis is distributed it doesn't necessarily have to stay a parenthesis.
You cant just distrbute the 2 like that without simplifying.
If you want to distribute you have to distribute it as (1/2). As your chart you posted clearly shows.

wow...you were failed MULTIPLE times by parents, teachers, etc up to this point in your life
If you say so, but I haven't broken any mathematical rule.
You broke the first rule of the order of operations

Yes you have. You can only distribute when there are variables in the parenthesis. YOU DIDNT SOLVE WHATS IN THE PARENTHESIS FIRST. PEMDAS AGAIN FAIL. 9 + 3= 12.  not 9 and 3.

no you dont its what ever is first PEMDAS is really

P
E
M or D AKA WORK LEFT TO RIGHT
A or S AKA WORK LEFT TO RIGHT
exactly, multiplication comes before division. That 2 goes with 12 first (multiplication) then gets divided by 48.

ITS OR. its whatever comes first. MULTIPLICATION DOES NOT GO BEFORE DIVISON.

we gotta dumb it down for dude
EVERY math website supports this even google gives 288

You assuming the statement is 48/(2(9+3)). If thats how it was supposed to be than thats what would be in the calculator. THAT would give you 2.

you're distributing incorrectly tho
How so tho?

If d ÷ a(b+c) = d ÷ ab + ac, how did I distribute incorrectly? I'm still abiding by PEMDAS since, a(b+c) is a parenthetical phrase. After that, it's just division and addition.

theres 14 pages of people arguing whether the answer is 2 or 288, and this clown thinking he's smarter than NT comes in here presenting the answer as 8.66667

You have to SOLVE whats in the PARENTHESIS before moving on!

I never said I was smarter. I got the same public school education as the rest of you guys. Actually, when I first did the equation I got this answer, but I left the 18 + 6 in a parenthetical. No where does it say to do this.
