ACA: Affordable Care Act (better known as OBAMACARE) - Enrollment Starts October 1st - You In?

I don't understand, I thought you said you wanted the "other guy" because he knows how money works?
Exactly.  I said yaw broke. the people that sit and argue about what stuff should be like and politics instead of taking advantange of what they give you to get ahead.
Obamacare isn't as cheap as advertised. Premiums are crazy high from what I've gathered, unless you're living below the poverty line.
Obamacare was is a reform. it was actually made for people in poverty to afford insurance., people who got money need not worry because usually their rates wont change and they can already afford it

I don't see how you can blame anyone but insurance companies wheat really comes down to it. Let me rephrase that... Democrats either spread their cheeks to the insurance companies or obama is extremely naive.

I'll bite, what did Obama do that people aren't 'taking advantage of what they give you'?

Obamacare isn't as cheap as advertised. Premiums are crazy high from what I've gathered, unless you're living below the poverty line.

Huh?

If you are below the poverty line you get Medicaid, and there are tax credits for some above. The premiums are cheaper than what you could have bought last year at the same time.

Not true because obamacare mandates things (even

if you dont want em) that makes em more expensive

That has made plans more expensive for alot of

folks.

And tons cheaper for a lot more. You never seem to be willing to even acknowledge the coin has other face.

Your "tons cheaper" is contingent on young people

Entering da risk pool, they haven't so now its become

A risk adverse selection of sick people and its

starting a death spiral..obama is getting held to da

Fire because da only way obamacare was gonna

Work is if young people in da individual market LOST

Their insurance and got funnelled into da exchanges

Which Obama basically lied about. :{

How am I (college student) supposed to afford these Obamacare rates? I filled out the application and the plan I got is basically similar to what EmblemHealth was offering me before this whole ACA fiasco. The younger generation is getting raped here. Things were simpler when I had Medicaid.|I

u missed the whole point or maybe your trolling me either way u missed the point. I dont spend time arguing about polictics I take advanatge of what i get thrown at me why people sit back confused and argue and say this and that

my family pay $189 biweekly wife and 1 kid. under obamacare i only pay $75 every 2 weeks for wife me and kid.. Winning!

my deductibles were raised by 500 to $3000 but i have a health spending account with $750 company contribution...

never came close to hitting the old deduct  anyway...

i really have no idea what any of this means
Depending on your plan, it means that if anything happens to you, you will have to come out of pocket for the first $3000 before the insurance company covers ANYTHING. In other words, add an additional $187/mo. (company contribution subtracted) to the cost of your plan before your insurance kicks in.

This is what nobody's talking about. Yes, the premiums may be lower for most people, but the deductibles are going up by A LOT for most people. I talked with at least a dozen people over the last week, and most are seeing their dedictible go up to $10,000. Even a guy on Medicaid had a deductible that high with his premium going up another $500/mo while mostly living on social security.

Obama blew it in surrendering da public option..

THAT would've bent da cost curb down

No it wouldnt of. Majority of the health cost expenditures already come from Medicare/Medicaid expenses from hospital and/or Skilled Nursing Facilities. So how would expanding the public pool "curb the cost"?

The most expensive conditions to treat are (these are on government research websites):

Heart Disease
Pulmonary disorders
Cancer
Hypertension
Diabetes

All of these conditions are suffered by majority of people on fixed income.

The top-spending 25 percent of Medicare beneficiaries incurred average per-person costs of $24,800. In this group, 42 percent had coronary artery disease, 30 percent had congestive heart failure, and 30 percent had diabetes.

The elderly and disabled, who constituted around 25 percent of the Medicaid population, accounted for about 70 percent of Medicaid spending on services in 2003. People with disabilities accounted for 43 percent of Medicaid spending and the elderly for 26 percent.19 The remaining 75 percent of the Medicaid population, who were not elderly or disabled, accounted for only 30 percent of spending.

http://www.ahrq.gov/research/findings/factsheets/costs/expriach/index.html#MostExpensive

Cost of care increases with rising Demand with decreasing Supply.

Not trolling, but good to see that this helps you. That's the point.

Don't forget about a decreasing quality of patient. We've got a population that's 60% overweight with the largest population in history getting ready to retire soon. Naturally, they'll also be the ones utilizing the biggest portion of health services as well. IMO, THOSE are some of the biggest factors for the drastic increase in insurance costs over the past 2 decades.

I recently finished an clinical internship in a Skilled Nursing Facility. Medicare will pay up to 100 days of Skilled Nursing if you spend at least 3 days in a hospital. Skilled Nursing facilities know this and take advantage of it, and most times keep them there longer than necessary.

This thread is all

"OBAMA IS EVIL HE NEVER DOES ANYTHING RIGHT!"

and

"OBAMA IS A SAINT HE IS INCAPABLE OF FAULT!"

and then like 3 level headed people.

You really will never have to pay your deuticble. Deductible is only needed on major illness everything else is covered no copay no fees. Any major illness usually the insurance will just deduct $3000 from your treatment cost if your deductible is $3000. So if your total hospitall bill is 20k, they will pay just 17k

90% of yaw are just scared and fearing.most dont know crap bout the acc

Guys need to watch this before u even post in here anymore. This is the best video that explains acc best. ACC is a reform and it is wonderful! Now insurance send you rebate checks, no lifetime limits, covers everything(no more think booklets saying we cover this and that), flu shoots, preventive care etc no fees no money. Man yaw need to accept this, its a wonderful thing

Brah this is the most infuriating thing. ACA does so much good that most dudes take for granted or act like it doesn't matter. I mean there where people on TV last election talking about how they are torn about who to vote for because they are lifelong republicans but the ACA saved their life or a loved ones life :{

But because of a website, and these cancellations, the entire bill should be scrapped. And what should take its place..........................no answer.

Then they bring up public option knowing full well Republicans and moderates will not go for it. Just return to how things were, and kick the bucket down the road a couple more decades while people die and get financially ruined.

Yes it should be scrapped. The Obama administration knew beforehand that site would have bugs but they decided to rollout with it anyway because of possible political repercussions. Now fixing will cosr additional hundreds of millions of dollars.

The Obama administration knew beforehand that their would mass cancellations but continuing to lie to us being able to keep our insurance. So now their trying to push a bill that would delay the cancellations for one year. Pushing this fix is taking attention away from other legislative issues.

So after all these lies and deception you're still championing this trash *** bill? That defies logic.

Man shut the hell up.

Website =/= law. Please comprehend that. Enrollment is 6 months too.

The cancellation I will give a little on because you had to see that coming. But don't act like majority of American are losing their coverage like those GOP scare ads were implying.

Obama should have better leadership, I agree, but he didn't deceive anyone, he failed to acknowledge a likely scenario which would affect a very small number of people would currently had insurance.

The bill has saved lies. It is that your self centered *** refuses to support anything that doesn't directly benefit you.

People are you a the worst kind of citizens.

The website and the law are joined at the hip. Without the website, people can't sign up. Simple as that. This administration has placed politics over actually helping people. People are getting cancellation letters and have no way of getting new coverage.

It isn't just right leaning sites or politicians that are discussing the incredible number of people that will get dropped. It is everyone across the political spectrum. It isn't fear mongering, it is fact. That's why there are Senate and House Democrats are jumping ship, they know how bad it is.

Obama did decieve us. People who are innocent don't apologize. Then propose what is essentially a band-aid to.plug the hole at the 25th hour that could have been fixed 2011 when it was discovered.

Your so blinded by your idealism and altruism that you just can't see that you are being led astray, and I am fine with that. But when you come in here spreading half truths in order to push your NT agenda, I have an issue with that. Some people on NT are uninformed and just believe what you say, which is wrong. An that is not right.

Can we take it from two left leaning sources then?

If you read the Affordable Care Act when it was passed, you knew that it was dishonest for President Obama to claim that “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan,” as he did—and continues to do—on countless occasions. And we now know that the administration knew this all along. It turns out that in an obscure report buried in a June 2010 edition of the Federal Register, administration officials predicted massive disruption of the private insurance market.

By “coverage of this issue,” Carney was referring to two articles. The first, by Chad Terhune of the Los Angeles Times, described a number of Californians who are seeing their existing plans terminated and replaced with much more expensive ones. “I was all for Obamacare until I found out I was paying for it,” said one.

The second article, by Lisa Myers and Hanna Rappleye of NBC News, unearthed the aforementioned commentary in the Federal Register, and cited “four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act” as saying that “50 to 75 percent” of people who buy coverage on their own are likely to receive cancellation notices due to Obamacare.
