addicted to scratch offs

so when i turned 18 I went and tried a scratch off, and i never thought to myself that i could be as addicted as i am now. I started out with 1$ and 2$ tickets now at 21 im buying 5$ and 10$ sometimes 20$ tickets here and there. it seems like its a scam a scam but them winning tickets are out there, ive won alot of times on 5$ tickets but i would only win my money right back. Now with that being said its so hard to just get that 5 bucks back and walk away, i always catch myself playing again another ticket and trying to double my money ( never happens though).

Just wondering if any NTers have ever gotten lucky ona scracth off and hit BIG.

Ps : most i ever won was 100 on a 10$ scratch off

not really, theres more losing tickets than wining ones for sure. try and stay away from the 1 and 2 dollar tickets

I found myself playing scratchers lately too, usually just gamble in the casino. Been playing the $10 one, no real luck. It's all kind of a waste of money. I find myself buying them when I'm at a store and have some extra money in my pocket, so I cop a scratcher for fun.

Where do you guys get these $20 tickets and do a $50 ticket even exist? I am in Cali if that matters and I never seen anything above $10. You are all lying if you're telling me you play religiously or often and only coming out even... Theres no way you can be even from scratch cards unless you only play a couple of times and got lucky. The odds just aren't there... I have a friend who only play $10 cards and claim hes up but just the other week when I was with him; he wasted $30 on the $10 scratchers and came out with nothing but still insisted he was up... I know hes trying to play it off like its nothing but the fact is hes just using that same excuse to justify his gambling expenses. Smoking, gambling and drinking are vices and everyone has one but they aren't bad, addiction is. So as long you play moderately then you should be okay. You know you're addicted when you have to make up excuses or talk your self into buying more scratchers...

My girlfriend & I like to play scratchers just for fun so every friday I stop off at the gas station on my way home from work and buy atleast $20-$30 worth of tickets. She won $500 last year on a $20 scratcher. Only buy the $5+ tickets now on because the only thing we seem to win on the $1-$2 tickets is just another ticket.

im out here in philly, never heard or seen of a 50$ ticket but the 20$ ones are out there, also i believe 25$ ones to.

Depends on your state. I just looked at californias lottery website and it looks like 10 is the highest you guys have.

My state currently has 4 20 dollar games and 2 50 dollar games, along with various 1, 2, 5 and 10 dollar games too.

bigger tickets obviously have better prizes

Tips:
Look up the games and odds and number of winning tickets still out there on your states lottery site.

Buy in bunches. don't buy 4 tickets and have all 4 be different games. If you buy 4 tickets, buy all 4 from the same roll, from the same game. (for this reason i don't play EVERY week)

Try different locations, just me, but i don't think at the end of the day it makes a big difference.

Stay away from the 1 and 2 dollar games.

If you got friends, split the costs of how every many tickets you wanna buy. you can either double your amount of tickets or cut your losses in half depending on how you want to look at it. if you win you split, you don't really lose.

other than that just hope the guy at the gas station gave you a jackpot type ticket
