Yeah don't try to refresh the app at like 30-35 seconds before, me and a lot of others got screwed over on the cream release with the countdown not popping back up

Yep, force close 1-2 minutes before and just wait. Less risk of it glitching and if the countdown does disappear you have plenty of time to try and get it to reappear

Wifi
Reboot phone 10 minutes before
Force close all other apps
Force close Confirmed about 4-5 minutes prior to get good clock sync

Don't open the app AT 4pm EST. You would have already lost. A couple minutes before.
