But he didn't make the brand relevant and that's what stans want to believe.

How many countries is Soccer played in? How many teams wear Adidas shorts, cleats, shin guards, use Adidas soccer balls.

That's the point, the bubble sneakerheads live in has them in blinders because that's the only thing sneakerheads see, their small circle of info or life.

If that was enough and the hype sector of sneakers doesn’t matter why did Adidas do the deal to begin with

You’re on a website called NikeTalk and downplaying the importance of having hyped products :lol Adidas has been second place culturally forever because they don’t have a direct Jordan competitor HYPE WISE and Ye was their closest thing they ever had to that. We know they sell a lot of soccer/samba/superstar type shoes but the hype is what a sneaker company wants. The type of shoes y’all keep bringing up will sell with casuals regardless

Man some people really going through it over Kanye. I ain't even going to mess with them, I'd have been in a baaaad place if Tupac lived and went off the deep end like this, but man it's wild seeing people literally melt down over this. And some clearly showing they know nothing about the sneaker world outside of being a hypebeast yet want to talk like they know some ****. Adidas literally sells more Stan Smith and Shell Toes than anything Yeezy. Always have, always will. It's a hit to them but they'll be fine long term. Yeezy lifted the brand hype, but let's be honest, that'd already dipped the last few years when UB died.

Well I guess since in your school since nobody rocked Pharell of Pusha models Adidas was not hot.

Strange that when both of those collabs dropped they sold out immediately and resale was twice retail amount when nobody messed with them.

what are you even arguing? Yeezy sub brand isn’t important because adidas collabed with rappers before?

You legitimately think those were anywhere near the level of people giving a damn about them compared to even the 20th 350 rerelease? lol salute to Pusha and Pharrell though

Again you’re doing a lot to not give Ye credit for any impact he may have had lol

Kanye did not make Adidas relevant, that's a fact. It made it popular in the sneaker community that is true.

To say adidas was irrelevant before Ye is blatantly false considering its a brand that has been on television all over the world almost everyday of the year due to it's partnership with FIFA and Soccer. A GLOBAL sport played in every single country, which I'm sure the revenue from that is in the Billions and undoubtedly eclipses any and all revenue Ye may have generated for the stripes.

Adidas more relevant to sneakerheads? Sure. More relevant to the world in general? absolutely not.

like people dont realize nikes best selling shoe is the tanjin or some **** you can buy at dsw not the limited hyped shoe of the week

hype isn't as important as people seem to think it is...
Disagree. There's a residual effect. Non-sneaker folks will buy a AF1 (pretty sure they were #1 last year) bc Nikes are cool. Nikes are cool bc sneaker guys say they are cool. Sneaker guys say they are cool bc they chase limited hyped sneakers and Nike does those better than anyone.

Look, I don't like Kanye at all. I've literally never tried on a pair of Yeezys. Not once. But I think you're kidding yourself if you can't admit that Adidas brand interest was inflated in 2015/2016 bc of Kanye. People couldn't get a Yeezy so they bought an UB. Most of those were selling out so they bought an NMD. If those were sold out, they bought an EQT. Wearing Adidas was cool for a lot of people at that time. I absolutely despise that mindset and refused to wear the stripes at all but that's just me. For a lot of people, wearing Adidas anything was cool during that time period. That has faded the last few years so it's not as big of a hit now as it would have been then but it's still a hit to brand coolness.

Adidas always been popular ... you're right.

Then russian Mobsters always made me go out and buy a track suit!!!

I think y’all should just agree to disagree. Both sides have made valid points, but I don’t think either side is going to concede

They're both right. It's not a zero sum thing.

Adidas has iconic models outside of Kanye (samba, superstar, stan smith, forums etc) and other successful collaborations.

Kanye brought popularity to the brand they wouldn't have had without him. If Adidas had it their way Kanye would've just pumped out shoes for them, shut up, and made music. Because he made them a LOT of money.

Both sides are losing from this.

The truth in all of this and where I do agree with Kanye is ...

How all these PEOPLE are quick to comeup with 100 excuses to discredit the worth of a black man to society and a company.

These dudes are your examples. It's not about being right or wrong ... is about how a person will go to the depth of the earth to discredit a black man.

Go ahead guppies ....

theyve been discrediting black people as a whole whilst consuming black culture forever. Whether is Lebron the GOAT, Obama da gawd, or Ye the genius. They dont want a permanent pedestal for successful black men. With that being said Ye and the last few years has been a disappointment to say the least. He is a habitual line stepper. this one cost him alot. but he will be fine

All of this.

Also let’s not forget Boost wasn’t hyped until Ye started wearing Boost models in 2015. OG 2013 Ultraboosts could be found in outlets prior to the massive Boost hypewave.

thats wild; how were they in outlets in 2013 before they released in 2015?

funny thing is 90% of people in here probably like NB(and so do i) yet they don't come close to adidas shoe sales. adidas shoes are the only brand that come close to nike sales but yeah they're not relevant because some guys on NT said so

This is Adidas's revenue from 09 to 22.

People lie, numbers don't. Guess what year they started seeing growth again? And it wasn't cause of no stan smiths either.
