Bro you expect the president to resolve all black issues? Thats not fair. I agree he should stand in more, but your example just doesn't make sense hence why I called it a empty question. Kind of like if you asked what if McDonalds was a Burger King. It wouldn't happen nor does it make any sense

They may seem trivial to you, but them old black folks fought for the rights of black folks today (what little they may have).

They went through a whole lot through today. We think we maybe struggling now but what they went thru was a lot worse in some regards.

Be a little more respectful & perhaps show a lil reverence...
Some of them sacrificed but not all of them did. And guess what. For everything they did, they still weren't able to build a sustainable apparatus to protect their descendants (us) from being in constant danger via WS. We still only control .5% of the wealth, same as when we left (formal) slavery.

It's not disrespecting the sacrifice that some of the older black generation sustained to criticize the segment of older black folks of today who do nothing but wag their fingers at the youth and sing We Shall Overcome Someday. Many of these older black folks thought that getting a car loan, a job in the office owned by while people and moving to the suburbs was 'making it.' Power lies in wealth-building and by passing the wealth/assets down to your descendants. And by competing as a group. You personally might have the greatest black parents in the world, but when it comes down to it many of the rest of our older blacks failed to instill that in us.

As it turns out we are going to have to be the generation that plants the seeds of generational wealth and power.

"We will have died of a theory" - Confederate General (after being denied crucial aid from another State)

I am currently despised by a number of my kinsmen and friends. I turned from conservative to progressive. I find myself in a charitable mood. At heart, I am an historian and an economist and a political adviser. I try to explain to my friends and family in government that their best bet is to figure out how to give black and brown folks a chance to acquire serious capital, in the way that every white ethnic group has had.

I keep trying to explain that the Republican Party's very survival is based on helping black and brown people become middle class. If we can have a latter day Homestead Act or a resurrection of the post WWII Compact for Black and Latino folks, the GOP can prosper for decades hence. If we could do for minorities what we did for Irish, Italian and Polish Americans, we would see in 2045, Tyrone III or Darius III declaring that government is "not the solution, government is the problem." In 2050, black college kids would be well represented among College Republicans and Libertarians and they would plead for "small government." They would claim that their good suburban lives are the result of their own hard work, like white folks do today.

However, white conservatives remain truculent. So the task falls to white liberals to manage our transition to a Social Democracy. The way forward is to become a cross between contemporary Sweden and Ancient Athens. People like me will never be thanked but I can be happy that I will have been the generation that helped to make black folks wealthy, that kept white folks wealthy and who managed to make sure that neither killed the other. I am an economist, I have run the numbers and every damn person in this nation can be, at the bare minimum, very comfortable. Only hate and prejudice is stopping that from becoming a reality.

I tried to tell my people to let that N word go and they want to argue how nothing is wrong with it and I give it power but now they are whining about the media calling us thugs [emoji]128527[/emoji] smdh man come on now!

My point exactly, that words have power whether you think you give them power or not and the next time your kid says the WORDS "I love you", I want you to attempt to remove the power and emotions your body/soul will naturally respond with, ok?

Yep. Black folks getting shafted, killed, and spines broke because we say " sup my *****"

Justified. Guilty

You still didn't answer the question.

the older "black folks" dont have the energy to fight anymore. They're old and tired, and all they can do is hold hands and hope for peace. Its up to the youth to start making a statement by ******* ish up. Not all may agree, but there's no peace without war.

meek mill shares his story of police brutality...

Lips swollen …. Stitches in both swollen eyes! One of my braids ripped out! I weighed about 130 at the time And I was found guilty of assaulting cops! It’s clear 2 see I was punched and stomped by a few cops! If I wasn’t blessed the way I am I still would have hatred in my heart towards cops but I forgave bcuz I know all cops ain’t the same! 2 “black cops” got on the stand and lied and cried about how I chased them down with a gun and tried to kill them!

I caught that case at 18 and was stripped of my freedom and taken away from my family 4 times for the same case and still on probation.. 1 step away from jail if I make one mistake! I can’t blame my judge because the law labels cops as “expert witnesses” and it was cops against a black kid and she’s suppose to believe a cops testimony first!! I never got a chance to speak to my judge about this from young man to woman and I hope she sees this to help other young men that won’t b able to make it thru what I made it thru! After I caught the case I had no choice to hustle in the streets to get a good lawyer aka a good liar to help me get my freedom!

In theory, police are held to a higher standard when they take suspects into custody. Having said that, if a parent failed to secure a child into proper age appropriate safety seating & an accident occurred resulting in the child flying out of their seat getting injured or worse yet dying, there is a lot of legal precedent of parents being found guilty of manslaughter or negligent homicide.

I would think Gray's death would in the very least would fit in that bucket. Now that some more facts/details have been released, it seems like the cops who handled the arrest & transportation of Gray have definitely not provided factual statements.

State's attorney Mosby is said to be holding a press conference this morning at 10:30AM ET.

edit - Has anyone mentioned how police chief Batts was formally chief in Oakland when Oscar Grant was murdered by police at the BART station? (Fruitvale Station). Weirdly coincidental that 2 internationally known examples of murder at the hands of police in 2 different cities were both under the same police chief.

Was there an accident, though?

Or did they just whoop his *** and go to far

I'm sorry, I didn't finish my post more thoroughly. They haven't said how Gray have died yet. But what we do know so far, his injuries didn't occur as a result of him trying to injure himself or a pre existing issue. But either way it's either murder (if beatings occured outside the van) or negligent homicide (I would think).

Also, I mis spoke earlier. Mosby hasn't been in office for a year as she was sworn in last Jan. She had began running her campaign a year ago... Sorry.

One of her platforms that resonated in a lot of neighborhoods here in BMore was that if elected, her office would hold police officers accountable for brutality. It will be interesting to see what she does because this will resonate not only for her political aspirations, but for her husband too.

Its crazy how everything is about timing...

http://www.post-gazette.com/local/c...kill-man-in-Larimer-club/stories/201010080243

This was my brother, a dude im talkin we smoked hunneds of times, chilled, did everything together. And when i left pittsburgh, i got word of this. Its virtually impossible the story they claim...but nothing was ever done about this. Like the hundreds that have happened previous...

So long as this limelight on the situation, justice has to be taken for all those that fell when this wasnt so much in the open eye.

We cant just be trying to beg for the future. These bs have to pay justice for the past. And they have to pay with the equivalence of pain that friends, mothers, fathers, family, brothers, and sisters feel when a human is taken from them.

^ & now the hardest part begins. This case will rely on a lot of data based on medical examinations & records.

Got damn, sounds like a lot of negligence on the part of the po po (as if that was a surprise)...
