For me, I personally hate paying retail the way it is so I swipe my card with the stink face on pretty regularly now. If I miss out on a release then im cool with that. ive had enough gems come through my house to be over the whole wow factor for shoes these days.

As far as what you should do:
I think if you say $240 is too much to pay on the regular then don't pay it. Just be willing to accept defeat if/when you miss out.
The hassle.... Shoes cost me $180 after tax. If I get from finishline then its $188 shipped. you paid an extra $52.00. If its not inconvenient for you to do the raffles then by all means go for it. I personally don't live close enough to malls to want to drive through rush hour after work for a "chance" to get shoes. Too tired/lazy at the end of my day. I just want to eat, spend time with my family, ban on people on NT ( ), then play video games.
You can also mix it up. Only pay the convenience fee for high priority releases. The ones you are iffy on just try your luck.

$240 isn't a lot, the fact that I paid $240 on a shoe I could have gotten for about $180 something shipped and everyone got fairly easily because it was a general release is what bugs me. I now know that these are harder to get so a $240 price I wouldn't mind, but the convenience price is around $400 to $500 I believe and that I'm not willing to pay lol but for the most part, I live within 10 minutes of each mall and since I'm in a wheelchair when at the mall, I don't mind doing the whole raffle thing since both malls are close. I guess the convenience factor price is worth it for a shoe I want that I know will be harder to get than the Oreo 5's. But, for shoe's that are on the level of the Oreo 5's release and hype wise I wouldn't mind trying my luck with the raffles. I'm new to all of this so it's still a learning process for me and these Oreo 5's were a measuring stick in a way. I wouldn't take the oreo release as the only sample in your measuring. Stuff like dsg posted a Full Size Run is an outlier that just doesn't happen for every release. If they didn't drop today then where else would you get them for $180 shipped? Take stuff like that into consideration when factoring into your decisions.

Not that it is any consolation, but some people paid even more than that for the shoes.  You and I will be ready for every Black Friday release after this we want.  My wife paid to get her's early, and was kind of bummed at how easy they were to get on Black Friday.

Haha, yeah, I guess knowing I wasn't the only one who paid above retail for a shoe that seemed pretty easy to obtain does help the pain. But you're right, from now on I have a better idea as to what approach to take. I'm not the kind of person trying to get every release, I just spend my money on the shoes I like. I don't really like the first 3lab5 5's, but I'm digging these new one's. I think I'll try my luck by putting in 8-10 raffle tickets for the infrared 3lab5 5's (if stores go that route) if not I'll go with my Internet plan.

Hmmm for the 3lab5's you might want to call in any favor you can get on those.  I am debating buying those early as well, only saving grace is that I am off the week leading up to them.  Meaning if anyone is doing a guaranteed ticket I should be on hand for them.  I also have access to about 3/4 malls with a FL, Champs, FA.  If I don't get them then, I must not be destined to have them for retail then.  Keep in mind the original 3lab's have dropped a tad in price, causing them to be less than the preorder for the new 3lab5's.  If that makes sense.

The only connect I did have moved out of state lol I'm "dry" after that. So if raffle tickets are available I'm doing my raffle plan and my internet plan as my plan b to fall back on. If these infrared 3lab5 5's pre-order go down to a reasonable amount I may pay extra for them. If not, I'll just stick to my plan, if I lose then I will just have to wait and hope for these 3lab5's to drop or hopefully restock again. I wasn't really feeling the first one's because I couldn't pull them off, I'm a man of simple taste and well they were something that someone with a really extravagant wardrobe type going on would pull off. But these infrared 3lab5 5's are sexy and a lot more subtle which I can actually see myself rocking with pretty much anything.

Well I know for sure Foot Locker does free shipping after $70 or $75 amd I'm a rewards member at Finish Line and up until yesterday I had received emails about free shipping and discounts, I'm not sure if that was available during the actual release day though and nike.com does free shipping on anything above $70 as well I'm pretty sure so I may have messed up with the Oreo's. But you are definitely right, I just have to keep learning based on my experiences, I guess I have to accept that I need to set limits and I won't be able to get every release I like. I'm sure everyone on NT for the most part has taken a loss and missed out on a release right?

Yeah, I'm pretty new to all of this. I've always loved Jordan's and Michael Jordan being fron Chicago and all. But, my parents could never afford Jordan's so now that I have money saved up it's like a cushion. I have enough money to be responsible with my bills and money to buy shoes and not be broke or feel like I regret it. I did buy into the hype, I love simple shoes that go great with anything, so I thought the entire world felt the same way and would be all over these shoes so the Friday before Thanksgiving week I bought into the hype and gave up on my initial plan and bought a $240 pair shipped from a mom & pops type store from Virginia called Athletic House. It turns out the hype wasn't real and everyone on this thread pretty much got their shoes for retail. I'm disabled so I do have a tougher time getting around, but my main issue is that I don't really have a connect like most people on here do. I don't know which shoes will and won't be a general release, limited release, etc. I only know I like certain shoes, I try doing a Google search and find typical blog sites describing the shoe and when it will release and for how much but typically no word on how readily available the shoe's will be. As I was telling bigj, I live within 10 minutes of two big malls that each have a Champs Sports, Finish Line, and Foot Locker. My two plans as of right now is finding out confirmed release dates and finding out whether the stores will be doing raffles. If they do end up doing raffles what I plan on doing is have my brother take me to both malls and have him and I enter raffle tickets in my size at every store except for Finish Line since I was told you can only select one particular store, that would put me at about 8-10 raffle tickets entered for a size 13. If all else fails, I have my billing and shipping information saved on champssports.com, finishline.com, footlocker.com, and nike.com. I would plan on logging into each site 10min before release and try going in and out. If I strike out, well on to the next one or hope that these stores do a restock. But my main problem is finding out confirmed release dates and what type of releases they will be. For instance, I'm still not sure what the situation with the Black Cat 4's is, and I keep reading rumors of a January release but there's no confirmed release date nor official pictures available. I guess I'm in for a long learning experience.

Same here in Miami ..and im talking big sizes. I grabbed on NDC thinking that they were going to be super limited but, as the guy said above, mostly all 5s have been easy grabs (DBs and Fears exculded). Hopefully JB and Nike keep that kind of trend going with the 11s and next years 7s.

Got mine in the mail today, ndc. Looking fresh as hell. Buttery, and no flaws. Would almost compare to bred ivs... What yall think? Im very happy I picked these up. I also got the Gucci 1 coming tomorrow.

Sometimes the shoes that I'm not as into initially wind up being some of my favorites. That is definitely the case with the oreo 5s. Cant wait to see the guccis tomorrow. I'm loving these easy nov/dec releases.

I think you're talking about me and my previous couple of posts since I wear a size 13 lol I'm pretty sure next year they're coming out with the 6's and then 2015 will be year of the 7's if the pattern continues.

no updates on my pair from NDC for the past four days, according to the tracking number.  it's been sitting in the same place (even though it's neighboring area to where i live) for the past four days and today is the "scheduled delivery." 

gonna be pretty aggravated if i don't get my pair.

I don't know what time zone you are in, but technically they have until 7pm to deliver a package I believe. As far as a lost package goes, thats never happened to me but I'm assuming Nike would either replace them if there still is a pair in your size or return your money. I also think you should hold UPS accountable and see what you can get from them if you throw "I'm going to seek legal council" lol its a retro, so it's not as easy to replace.
