Anyone have a 4k Ultra HD television? Help

I didn't think 4K was worth it either! Until I pulled the trigger during Black Friday! I watch TONS of YouTube! So much 4K content on it! Also, was surprise how much 4K content was on Netflix's. It's more content out there than you think. Plus it "upscale" 1080p content to 4K.

I think I'll stick with rtings.com input. Additionally I've seen them side by side in a few stores, too. Significant increased cost doesn't equate to "significantly" better picture. Thanks though ...

Feel free to fast forward to 4:10. You'll see the 8000s and 9000s there and their opinion.

highly subjective scoring system and hes testing old tvs the 940d and 9800 are miles better than last years model
grin.gif

i could see how to the untrained eye they are close enough but again the 9k series is indeed significantly better for those of us who care

im sure the z9 is priced the way it because it is not significantly better than my 940d also...

its 2016 breh the only two reasons things are more expensive than another in the electronic world is "newness" or quality I guess you could throw brand cache in there because people buy things like beats and iphones and bose speakers but you get the idea... you get what you pay for generally speaking

good day sir

I'm glad you're so confident. I'll be waiting to subscribe to your YouTube channel, or be happy to visit your website when you create one since you're such a pro. You're everything wrong with consumerism. "It's more expensive" because it's either "newer" or "better" so it has to be SIGNIFICANTLY improved/superior. You can certainly have a preference, or believe what you'd like, but that doesn't make it gospel. Like Keko mentioned, and rtings.com for that matter, the 9800 may be better, but not $1000 better to justify the substantial markup. Especially if you can get the KS8000 for $1400 to begin with ...

Remember "breh" it's 2016, 2017, use the resources around you to make an informed decision. If you or your friend would like to spend $1000 for s slightly better set, back panel, and stand, then so be it.
I'm not going to argue about tv's. The 9000/9500 are better than the 8000/8500 but not 1k dollars better IMHO.

The 940D is a great tv but the Z9 is visually and overall better than the 940D.

Put them side by side and right of the bat you see how much more color accurate is the z9 over the 940D ... The contrast and zoning are ways ahead as well. Plus the pure size of the full array of the 940D vs the Z9 is a turn off for me ...

So I'm not sure if you was being sarcastic with the z9 is priced the way it is because it's not that much better but it is .....

PS the only reason I would purchase a 940D of I was to look at TV's in a sunny room but if not and I had to choose something else over a z9 I would go OLED all day.
I think he put the ellipsis after his Z9/940d because because he was trying to be facetious. Basically justifying the huge price difference between the 9000 and 8000 series. Could be wrong though. Anyway, I'm sure he's in agreement the Z9 is a better set. I'm sure he'll be back to leave a snarky comment, so he'll be able to elaborate then lol

no 4k support on cable television yet so not really worth it. although youtube videos in 4k are stunning

You are incorrect - Direct TV features 4K - Movies and Sports - Which is what everyone wants 4k for. Plus like someone else mentioned, there are tons of streaming content.

To the person that said 4k will die out, how???? Please explain such a dumb *** statement ......

Sony has been doing 4k for over a decade now ... Now that both the XBOX and Playstation have adopted 4k and HDR, it's official they are staying .. but that was just the frosting over the cake ... cause major porn studios have adopted 4k and that's all a real platform needs to be a hit.

and just some of you are educated - there's a 8k platform so I don't even understand how that statement made any sense ...

Worth is subjective. Period

Whats inarguable is that the 9k>8k

If you dont have the money thats fine....i got my 940 because oled and the z9 were too expensive for me..

You dont see me runnin around touting my set to be just as good as those two tho because i got more relative value for my money.

But hey do you pleighboi, a youtuber called it almost as good and thats good enough for you.

Cool, move on, just miss me withe opinions masquerading as facts

you bought a 940D because the OLED was to expensive???

Both the E6P and 940D MSRP are the same and when on sale they have been 200 to 300 priced difference at most!!!

For a person that just said if you have money that's fine - you sure sound like you purchased a TV out of your budget if you couldn't pull the a trigger on a tv that was probably 200 dollars more.

SMH

but i do agree the 9k is better than the 8k .... if that's the questions.

Yes, my opinion is based my earned income ... couldn't be further from the truth. However, I'm not going to waste money for something that yields an improvement not inline with the $1k price increase.

In regard to facts, you should heed your own advice.

You pretty much summed him up.

When i bought my 940 i got it from a wholesaler in cincy for 1800. At the time the comparable oled was jus shy of 3k 2600 on special... 6 months later yea ive seen the oled for 1800 but that wasnt the only factor in my decision...

I prefered the software and its abetter gaming and sports tv... less input lag less motion blur etc

I really dont know why your arguing with me? Your entire point is that something isnt worth its price tag. Tou could say that about any product. ANY and make somewhat valid points

The hellcat is not worth it over the srt8... unless you have the money

The 4 bedroom 3.5 bath house is not worth it over the 3 bedroom and 3 bath house... unless you can afford it
Etc etc

But again there is a difference and the 9k is better. Period.

that's a ridiculous great price ... That's better than what Sony employees get the tv for .. Don't see how wholesalers make money.

Are you just replying to Keko or is that split reply?

Only on NT people can argue about having the better TV when both are pretty damn good. We out here buying new clothes kicks gadgets etc and still have to one up each other when it comes down to TVs... stay classy NT

I don't think anyone is arguing about who has the better TV.

Someone simply bought what I consider is the best value for the money and someone else came in to say the 9k was better. I don't think anyone is arguing that ....

Then it lead to the tv someone has and the ridiculously low amount he paid for it.

Not sure how we ended here but whatever.

Started at the bottom now we here lol.

Anyway, it's Christmas Eve.  That said, Merry Christmas Keko and maybe @JEWSEEJAY. If not Happy Hanukkah then (not sure whether your moniker is indicative of your faith

**** is hilarious and sad at the same time.

I'm sure I'll like my KS8000. I'm glad other people like their different TVs, but idgaf about your TV. KS8000 seemed like the best bang for the buck and the 9000 didn't have enough "better" features to justify the huge price difference between the two. Personally, not being able to afford something didn't factor into my decision. I can afford the 9k, but why would I want to? So I can lord over people and have a **** measuring contest about how I have the top of the line model?

I just got one. I wanted something bigger and wasn't really looking at 4K because I don't really need it - but it was on sale and the HD version was barely cheaper.

I went from 42 to 49". I was looking for a 46 but they don't seem to exist - they went from 43 to 49 with nothing in between.

Pretty nice so far - just need to calibrate it now.

I've decided that 2017 is the year I upgrade my TV and receiver. So far nothing seems to be better value than the LG OLED B series (4K, supports both HDR formats, and close to the size I want), but I'm waiting to see what is announced at CES in a couple of weeks.

Got the settings sorted and now watching The Last Crusade - looks great!

****** got doper TVs than most of the world and still beefin.

I know folks still with 720p and tube tvs who don't know a think about resolution or 4k and they are happy how much life they got out the tv

NTers are the greatest. :nthat:

Grabbed a 60" KS8000 tonight direct from Sammy for $890 shipped.

That EPP discount is lovely, thanks to slickdeals.  I was literally about to walk out the door and head to Costco to pay $1179 plus tax for the same TV, but I decided to check out SD just in case.

Wanted the 65" joint, but it wouldn't have allowed other electronics to be placed on the mantle.
Where can I find this deal?  Expired now?

Everywhere I look on SD, it is showing $1100?

So what's the best value I can get for max 1500?

Was looking at the Sony XBR-65X850D maybe. Really just need it for sports, Netflix and PS4. Prob not even upgrading to the pro. Preferably want something 65 inches and under that price. Just want something that has good value. Not in a rush either to get one.

I don't think they're discounting the KS8000 anymore.  Looks like they're now discounting the curved version (KS8500).

But that said, the EPP pricing fluctuates randomly it seems, so keep an eye on it.  The guy who set up account told me to buy immediately b/c the price jumps up and down, so I did just that.

The crazy thing is that I didn't even get the lowest pricing at $890 shipped!

Damn OK. You just constantly watch SD?

I want a new TV. 60" or bigger, 4k. I've seen the LG options for under $1k but people say that their blacks aren't dark, 8bit panels vs 10bit (?), etc., but decent quality overall.

Actually want to get 2, one for upstairs and one for the basement. But also want to buy a new couch and some other furniture for upstairs so may have to just focus on upstairs for now. Been rocking a 47" 1080p Bravia that I've had for like 7+ years. It was like $900 with a ps3 + game that I used BestBuy gift cards bought at Kroger haha, that I found using SD.
