Why did this episode feel like a series finale?

From what my friend said the writers have announced that they write the end of each season with a series finale type vibe in mind. I definitely agree on this season though. I was honestly fully satisfied and wouldn't have minded had the show just ended here. I thought it was great, just a few loose ends.
