Asian Culture Discussion Thread

I don't know anything about Crazy Rich Asians but my fear is they white wash the movie, like they do with every Asian thing in America. Just present Asian American/Asian culture in it's purest form. African American based movies and shows don't need white-washing to succeed, and there's no reason Asian movies need it. Same reason why Fresh Off the Boat rubbed Eddie Huang the wrong way.

On another note, anyone been to that Bao place at the DC airport? **** infuriates me.

I feel the movie is targeted towards white people and whitewashed asians

The movie doesn’t look interesting because we live that story. Rich bougie Asian family vs poorer down to earth Asian family

Movie looks corny as hell because that's not an accurate representation of 99% of Asians. I'm on the fence about watching it in theatres.

Just watched the trailer.
So even when they're trying to have an all Asian cast the main dude has to be half English. I can't with this **** man.

I also have no idea what this movie is about? I know it's based on a book, but is it just about a rich dude falling in love with a girl?

I would rather watch those Chinese police/crime flicks
Storyline for those are :nthat::nthat::nthat:

This was the GOAT one :pimp:

Was searching google about that movie and read it as "inTernal affairs" instead of "inFernal affairs" lmao...had me struggling for a minute.

Don't think i'll like Crazy Rich asians but will watch to support Awkwafina and Jimmy O Yang

man what the **** JIMMY O YANG IS ******* THIRTY???????????????????????????

I SWEAR TO GOD I THOUGHT HE WAS IN HIS EARLY 20'S.

Anyone else cringe at that SZA/Kendrick music video? I don't mind the idea of incorporating elements of Asian culture for the aesthetic, but wtf was that trash. **** was all over the place.
