the photographer/writer of the piece in a response to a tweet said some of the families wanted to change their photo to a smile. Because apparently they want their loved ones’ last moments of terror and fear to be edited out and made happy for whatever reason

Would it have been that hard to say “I didn’t mean to offend the Cambodian community, but I now understand how my actions were offensive and apologize for doing so” and then offer to make amends? Short answer: Yes. Although technically there is Traditional and Simplified form for written Chinese. The Government of the People’s Republic of China introduced simplified Chinese characters in 1946. Their main goal in introducing Simplified Chinese was to increase literacy. Simplified Chinese is now used in Mainland China, Malaysia (in official publications), and Singapore. Traditional Chinese is used in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.
Traditional is like cursive English. Looks much better and classic than print. Can go down the rabbit hole for spoken Chinese. Fascinating topic.

Flushing is full of those Boba spots. I never really got into that but years ago I did try chocolate boba milk. It was good, they gave me an extra one for free. I got it from Skyview Mall, where there was a boba tea stand and a Five Guys. They closed both down to build the Nike Clearance store.
