Seen a few articles about the victims forgiving the suspect, asking them to get therapy instead of jail time. What yall think about this?

On one hand I applaud how big their heart must be to forgive. On the other, I'm mad pissed that this is exactly the type of submissive stereotype and "not willing to anger white people" **** people take advantage of and "forgiveness" like this plays right into it.

But that’s how he wanted to deal with it.

It’s easy to be like “if that was me....”. But fortunately for the rest of us that wasn’t us. Botham’s family has to live with that grief for the rest of their lives and if handling it that way brought them closer to peace or closure or whatever they were looking for, then that’s what had to be done.

I think it’s also important to realize that while I know you didn’t mean anything by saying “on one hand I applaud them...” usually nobody is looking for applause or acknowledgement in that situation. I’m sure they’d probably prefer if people said absolutely nothing about it and just minded their business.

You and wuchi01 can disagree but don't take your argument with Wuchi and then project his/her position as being the most vocal or prominent in this thread. No one is going in the Black Culture Thread and saying "member-X is the most prominent voice in the BCT. " That **** would be offensive.

I’ve called out people by name, multiple times so if you feel like I’m just making broad sweeping statements without ever being specific, you are 100% incorrect. You can’t just come here, not read everything then make a sweeping statement yourself like that just because you think it sounds good.

Pay attention to who reps which posts. A rep pretty much acts as a co-sign in a lot of instances so when Wuchi pretends to not know what he’s doing when Meth calls him out for posting content from racist sources such as temporarily disabled Asian__Dawn.

When you Rep ignorance, it speaks a little louder than you’re willing to acknowledge. Again, scroll back if you need confirmation of me tagging people.

It’s also unfair of you to place full blame on me for what you deem snarky commentary.

I’ve seen you in a number of different threads so I know that you are familiar with plenty of other “snarky” “chest puffing out” commentary as you have called it on NT. It’s pretty common and does not cross the line most times.

If I think I need to do it, I’ll do it. It’s not against NT policy. In fact, you seem more bothered by it than he is. It is combative and if that is an affront to your sensibilities, I don’t know what to tell you. Too bad?

I’m sure he appreciates you attempting to come to his rescue as he has been unable to articulate a coherent point that allows for any other perspective than his own.

By the way- your reference to the black culture thread is an incredibly poorly thought out analogy and does not apply to me because I’m pretty sure I have fewer than 25 posts there in the few years I’ve been on NT.

Timing: remember seeing those articles, mainly older victims express that sentiment. Here’s the latest one that popped up. Each situation is different, but the Reality is most are repeat offenders.
Victims and their family can be forgiving but Justice still must be served. Crime must be punished. Hope the Law must be applied Equal and Blind.
