If he didnt already sell it, my cousin was looking for a buyer for his. I would have bought it, but I had already purchased a coffee table when he approached me. At the time, he was asking for $1000.

Herman Miller has biannual sales every year. One in December and one in June where you can receive 15% off of all their products from multiple sites. I've purchased all my Eames products from these sales.
Also, never buy that particular Noguchi table used unless you're able to exam it in person. Those glass table tops are known to easily scratched and 9 times outta 10, that's the reason why that owner is selling FYI

I like to think that the Noguchi tables dont scratch as easily as some knockoffs. My cousin's table is one that was passed down from my uncle. Years and years of use, kids, pets, etc and the table is in great vintage condition.

I have no idea what the condition of your Cousin's table is in but in general, Noguchi table glass tops are well known to scratch. Quite easily, in fact.
As far as knockoffs, I have no idea. I've never seen a knockoff Noguchi table in real life but I have seen a few real Herman Miller Noguchi tables scratched.

Assuming you're only talking about authentic Noguchi's I'm going to agree to disagree. Other than normal wear and tear, I would say that it doesnt scratch any easier than other quality glass tops.

I know two separate people who have Noguchi tables that have hairline scratches on the glass. I was going to purchase one last year but after doing some thorough research, I decided against it. The glass being easily scratched seems to be the concensous on numerous reviews all over the internet. It doesn't take a lot of work to discover this.
The price tags of these mid-century modern pieces have nothing to do with their durability. You're paying for style and hand craftmanship. In reality, these pieces of furniture are very delicate items. Example, I have an Eames lounge chair that was scratched by running my finger nail accidentally across the wood grain of the back of the middle section of the chair within one week of purchasing. The $$$ price tag and Eames name didn't prevent the wood from scratching.

So the number of Noguchi tables that I have encountered or acquaintances have encountered who tell me that they aren't as "easily scratched" as other quality glass tops means nothing?

Whatever broseph. You can believe what you want but I'm an actual collector of mid-century modern pieces. I wouldn't have spent as much money as I have unless I had done thorough research. I don't live vicariously through my "cousin."

It's going to be a couple months before I go ahead and buy a coffee table anyway. All I have right now is a bed, I need so much more furniture.
But yeah, I tried to get my parents to get the lounge chair during the sale in December as a Christmas gift. Wasn't aware another one will come in June, hoping I'll be able to get it then.

I have long been a fan and have appreciated MCM pieces, because of my cousin and other family members. I am in a time in my life where I can now afford to purchase my own pieces.
I'm not going to say that I am an absolute expert, because I am not. But, my cousin absolutely is. And he has kicked a lot of game to me. Being around many of these pieces my whole life allows me to know what I'm saying too.
I'm hard pressed to think that enough force from "accidentally" running your fingernails against the likes of rosewood, walnut, or even the veneer would produce a scratch like the one you posted, unless you do have them adamantium fingernails.

It's either in late May or early June. I can't remember exactly.
Another option is to buy an open box item from one of the reputable Herman Miller dealers like Hivemodern.com, allmodern.com or smartfurniture.com. You can usually score a good deal this way outside of the biannual sales.
Also, Design Within Reach has an ebay store that sells items like Eames chairs at steep discount. However, be aware that the items they sell on there are usually models that have been on display at some point.

It was accidental from reaching down and grabbing my remote that was laying behind my chair without looking.
Again, you make it completely obvious that you know nothing about what you're talking about. Anyone who owns any pieces of Eames furniture that is composed of molded plywood knows that you should always care for it delicately unless patina is the desired effect.

Keep assuming, Mr. Expert. I am being as real as they come. I don't need to explain to you any further what or how many pieces I have encountered in my lifetime. Thats dumb and serves no purpose. You obviously have a different experience with these pieces than I do. I guess I have "encountered" pieces who's owners are just more careful and cautious than the ones you have.
