Battlefield: 3 -Official Thread- Be Advised: We are Mission Launch -

Heard prone was an issue in the Alpha. Really hope prone doesn't ruin the game as far as proned snipers go.

This is good news if true:

One of the most popular aspects of Battlefield 2 was its deep persistence feature, where players earned unlocks and awards as they played, and which could keep them busy for years. This returned in Bad Company 2, however, you could unlock most of the weapons and gadgets in Bad Company 2 in a few dozen hours, something which took DICE by surprise.

For Battlefield 3, DICE always stated that they were going with a much deeper persistence feature, with many more unlocks and a revamped unlock structure for weapons and attachments. Now DICE’s Alan Kertz has unveiled throughTwitter just how long it takes to unlock all the weapons, attachments and gadgets for a class: 100 hours.

The reason it takes so long is because unlocks in Battlefield 3 are given per weapon basis, where each weapon attachment must be unlocked for a specific weapon, meaning that players will be unlocking the same attachments and gadgets over and over again, for each weapon. Most weapons will be given three slots: one for scope, one for barrel, and one under-barrel slot for grips, bipods, grenade launchers, etc.

On one hand, the more you use a weapon, the more and better accessories you get for it, on the other hand, it might get a bit too repetitive unlocking the same thing again and again. But we’ll have to wait and see how the system works when the game ships.

Btw, I heard it's releasing on two (2) discs on the XBOX360? Just something I read from BATTLEFIELDO on Twitter.

Its not Cross Team chat.

As it is now (BC2). You are only given the ability to chat with your 4man squad.

In BF3, theyve finally put in the option where you can finally chat with others outside your squad (on your team).

So when the beta drops is it going to be like Gears 3 and you have to preorder from the store or like the Homefront demo where you can download off the homepage?

EA has already sent out the emails to those that are gonna have early access to the beta (myself included). They are gonna send the redeem code to those who were chosen.

Those wondering if you die & a medic revives you. Does it still count as a death Answer: YES
@Demize99 Does being killed and revived count as a death?

6 hours ago

@adiacente As of yesterday, no. It'll be in the final game but not the beta.

@Demize99 So eventually reviving won't affect the death count, correct?

@Demize99Alan Kertz

@adiacente Correct.

Good! With the revive system being fixed & giving you the ability to accept or deny revives... Its on you if you die instantly again. And the death prior to you being revived was fair & square for the most part. So im glad it does count.

So what you're saying is... Even though people have bought Medal of Honor on day 1, some are still getting cut out of the bonus that they included with every MoH copy that release week? There's still a selection process within that select few that were promised a beta?

Dat ain't right, yo.

.
word. being able to talk to your squad makes things a lot easier. In COD, it just makes the connection (and lag) worse!

Slightly OT, but would anyone mind if DICE's next battlefield was set in WW2? I'm thinking it could be pretty epic with Frostbite 2.
