Hey fellas, I had to put this post out there.
Up until now it was really easy to spot a pair of fake foams. They had awful shape and the carbon fiber was a piece of plastic with polka dots printed on them.
But now, there's a batch of fakes out there that are nearly perfect. I would know because I got dealt a pair. To be honest, the only reason I found out with the black pair was because of the box, the shoes themselves were identical.
Here's the dead giveaway:
The top pair is the legit pair and the bottom the replica. At first glance the bar codes seem identical. Having the same number and thin-bold bar code pattern, but the give away here is that the fourth line of the bar code goes about 90% down on the legit pair, while the replica pair, the fourth line of the bar code goes all the way down. This seems petty, but EVERY pair of legit supreme foams follows this, regardless of the size and EVERY pair of the perfect replicas has the bar the goes all the way down regardless of size.
Second, the font of "suggested retail" on the replica pair is much more bold than on the legit pair.
BE SURE TO LOOK FOR THIS because when it comes down to the shoes themselves, it's very hard to tell. The only reason I had suspicion in the first place was because one of my shoes had the wrong size insole in it, and a blue QC stamp with more numbers than I was used to seeing. Me being paranoid about fakes made me look deep into this to find any difference between the pair I received and authentic pairs.
I know I should've taken pictures to compare the actual shoes, but just to show you guys how close they look, here's a link of a video that I caught advertising a replica pair with purchase links. The shape is spot on, the filagree pattern is spot on, and the carbon fiber is spot on. The only reason I knew they were the replicas is because of the box shown in the very beginning.
Aside from the box tag in the intro, would you have truly guessed these were fake? I would've been one of those guys saying that they just used an authentic pair to advertise so people would jump on their replicas, but as you can see, just judging by the shoes alone is very hard. So be sure to check that box! Yes, the tag on this pair was poorly stuck on the box, but other fakes I've seen out there are placed well. Like the next pair...
This post is mostly intended for the black pair, but there are also really good red ones out there.
The red pair is also done very well, but the dead giveaway is not only the box flaws that I mentioned but also the sole is not tined on the front foot and heel area, its clear throughout the whole sole.
Whether we hated or loved it, on the authentic pairs, the red pair's sole differed from the black pair because parts of the soles were tinted darker than other areas. The legit pair follows a tinted-clear-tinted pattern. Here's a pic of the very good replicas supplier's red version:
And the barcode associated with this person's sale: (Notice the fourth line of the barcode. Aside from the bar code and sole, the shape, pattern and carbon fiber are spot on!)
We all know the shoes should look like this:
So finally, I know foams used to be a no brainer when it came to legit checks, but just check out these pics. Replica manufacturers have gotten the shape, patterns, and now even the carbon fiber. Just check out that youtube video link.
I hope this helps a lot of you guys out. Be very careful when buying those black foams! Make sure to check the bar box code. If the seller says he doesn't have the box... that's going to be a tough call on the black pair.
EDIT:
I found another vid of replica retailers selling these:
Again, the box tag, to me, is the ONLY giveaway here... Go ahead and even click the shop's link on the youtube page and check out the product pics they have. It's almost impossible to see any differences on the shoes themselves. Be honest, without that box shot in the beginning, would you have been so quick to call these fake?
Gotta make sure to double check that barcode hint I gave you!
EDIT 2:
Finally found a vid of these almost perfect replicas in red:
Again, obviously from a replica retailer... Damn these guys are getting good. If anyone out there is still saying it's too easy to spot fake foams, they need to check again...
Just check out the site from the video above and look how good these fakes are getting:
