big sean featuring kendrick lamar and jay electronica "no i.d" freestyle

Damn, Big Sean is really underrated on here :lol I guess because I don't venture into the music forum as much so I'm very surprised. To each its own. I think he's someone who's extremely versatile, and Detroit to me was a great album. HoF appears to me like it will be even better.

And as I alluded to before in this thread, Drake as big of a megastar that he is, is still underrated when it comes to rapping IMO. In this thread alone I saw things like "Drake isn't close to kendrick rapping wise" and things like that. To me, his ability to compose songs with singing and melody completely overshadows the fact that he raps well...very well. There are several examples where Drake flat out raps better than virtually everybody else, (and I would post the records but I think post of you have heard them) but gets overshadowed by Girls love Beyonce, and the Marvin's Rooms of his catalog. While I love those records and think it speaks volumes to his versatility, most see those records and point to those records as to why he can't out rap kendrick, or whoever else gets called great because they over-rap the hell out of their verses.

But i'm sleep though.

Big sean is cool, but son has no passion in his voice. Its almost like that kid in class that reads with no type of emotion or voice fluctuation. Dry as hell.

I don't want to hear you read Beowulf all pale n ****. I'm going to go to sleep.

Thats how Sean sounds a lot. And this verse wasn't any different. He always has bars, but you don't feel them, so they go overlooked.

And when he does get hype, he sounds like a damn child.

I **** with dude though. He got some good songs and some bars. But I can't listen to him for long.

Drake isn't a better rapper than Kendrick on any metric I can think of personsally :lol BUT Drake has a fantastic sound and his albums spud extremely polished musically, not slightin Drizzy bc he can definitely spit but Kendrick is a monster. Drake is the bigger overall star no doubt. Kendrick is more hard rap but he has a similar musicality with his songs even going back to his earlier projects. I guess I see why drake gets the hate he does but the guy is a mega star and is multi faceted as an artist.

This. Drake is a more versatile artist but as far as RAPPING Kendrick is a animal. Drake is not.

Bottom line, Kendrick's verse is great for this new era of hip hip. _'s needed somebody to step up and hit these dudes in the chest lyrically.

And this is why I stopped coming to the music forum, because some of you act like stating your opinion equals stating a fact. I'm sorry that through two mixtapes, one album, and a bunch of songs made before he got on that I feel this dudes music so much. Name me five rappers that you feel are better and Ill be happy to give my OPINION on why I think otherwise.

He's not even the best rapper alive on his own coast...

Hell your idol on this very record idolizing Kurupt. Go take a nap b :lol

@DaddyRabbit no doubt bro, Jay elect on a pure lyrical ability to create dope songs is top 10 all time...I just have to punish him due to his reluctance to make music :lol and I don't believe his album will drop in the next 2 yrs unfortunately, he is extremely capable of dropping heat that would be better than 99% of stuff out now by old and newer cats...with him though its always "could be" and hypotheticals and hoping he drops something eventually if ever. But he's 36 though so I dunno how hopeful we can be for music, and he married that heiress too I think so his lack of motivation before has become even less now probably :lol

All in all this will benefit listeners, he clearly touched a nerve and the ones not mentioned seem to be taking it the worst, even older guys who weren't the main targets. It'll be a win all around for hip hop

Some of you say some crazy stuff :{

RB rushes for 250 yards in a game, he's one of the best RB's of all time

k dot pretty much is telling these dudes to step their games up cause he's here to stay.

he mentions the heavyweights but puts the onus on the next generation who could become heavyweights.

out of the rappers he name drops who do you guys think will be remembered in 10 years, who will be in the those barber shop discussions.

..... wow.... I can't believe this, this I don't even listen to rap no more. KL just dropped and verse and exposed alotta cats for the BANs they are. Really? You getting amped over twitter over a VERSE? Git in the booth, man. They ain't even take the verse they were supposed to. It's like people heard the name drops and then stopped there. HE CLEARLY WENT ON TO MEAN IT AS FRIENDLY SPARING. Man Ali and Frazier were friends; they knew that once they got inside the ring tho **** was ON. Kings fight kings man, they don't fight ******g peasants.

Guess we see who the one, two, maybe three kings are.

what WOWS me is that big Sean line someone just posted. I wonder if Big Sean had a verse before this one and decided to make a new one after K.dot sent him his verse ? But than again i Could be thinking about this to much also.

I'm sure he added those 4 bars after hearing them bombs in verse 2 and probably more seeing as how long his an Kendrick verses are

I'm a fair believer of quality over quantity... I'd take mind blowing verse (like this one) or a song over a rushed album. That's his niche though it adds to the Jay Elect mystic for me as a fan. U can't just go online and find tons of his music chilling

No they weren't. That ended quickly when they started promoting their first fight.

Joe Frazier hated Muhammad Ali until the day he died.

Welp.

This is all over the internet. Now Kendrick is everyones favorite rapper all of a sudden :lol

Random ******* I ain't ever seen talking about Kendrick talm'bout some "Thats right Kendrick, murder these ******"

Kendrick had the Internet ablaze right now. This wasn't even a diss. It was friendly fire. Kendrick knew exactly what he was doing when he recorded this great verse. Just wanted to have audiences paying attention to him while he develops his sophomore album. Sean and Elec came with it too. Man, I love Hip-Hop.
Kendrick said he isn't releasing a new album for A WHILE.  He did this out of spite

what led you to believe this?

You convienently missed the next sentence where I literally state he is docked several levels for not being able to consistently produce music over the long haul. I based the bolded commment off of one of tens of attributes that make a superstar artist (crossover appeal, ear for beats, showmanship, lyrics, hooks, durability, work ethic, ability to make radio songs, ability to put on a live show, energy, consistency, etc). Like that analogy makes no sense based on the context...I said hes all could, should, would and hypotheticals.....I didn't ever say he IS top 10 ever, so how is that crazy? He is the epitome of promising small sample size.

An apt analogy would be like saying Brandon Lloyd, on pure hands/spectacularcatching ability, is a top 10 receiver in the league....nowhere did I say on the whole he is a top 10 receiver inthe NFL . I guess its ridiculous if you take it out of context smh

True in a way but Ali and Frazier weren't friends. Frazier deeply despised Ali for making a mockery of him outside of the ring.

Kendrick Lamar did rap a great service....this buddy buddy super friends crap got out of hand and dudes weren't openly competing anymore. This is hip hop. But even before this K Lamar has proven himself as a cut above the rest. I mean the guys he mentioned are all talented in their own respect but he has the gift in ways they don't.

Also I find it kind of weak how J. Cole let him do the chorus on Forbidden Fruit but didn't let him rap. In Forbidden Fruit he rapped about being the King and being the best and all that which is cool...yet you only let your comp get on the chorus? Talk about playing it safe. Well anyway that has been addressed and K Lamar called him Jermaine Cole :lol the Shade is real.

Hip hop is better when it's competitive like this, now time for dudes to step their game up.
