big sean featuring kendrick lamar and jay electronica "no i.d" freestyle

Big Sean and Jay Elec's verses were cool but if Jay Elec was gonna follow THAT he coulda brought some energy. Kendrick went into 95 Nas mode then Jay jumps on it like it's a regular song.

Could those be factors?  Sure.

But ultimately those are excuses for that flaming pile of garbage called Yeezus.  Let's be real--if 'Ye dropped an album on par with most of his other work, it would've sold better.  In this day and age of bootlegging and album leaks, a lot of people weren't going to $upport that album after sampling it on the internets.  Why?  Because that **** is garbage.
LOL ok look I can't go heavy into my thoughts on Yeezus in this thread (look for me in the Kanye thread) but suffice it to say I am a HUGE supporter & defender of Yeezus. It ranks #2 for me on Kanye's discography and I think it's a brave, interesting, exciting work of art in a music genre (mainstream hiphop) where artistic expression and risk is basically nonexistent.

The truth is, you (anyone) are blind & ignorant if you believe Cole's album release date was not all due to business-related reasons, especially being backed by a company as record-business-savvy as Roc Nation. I strongly believe the reason Cole is selling better than Ye is not that people think Yeezus is trash music, I just think people do not care enough right now to buy Kanye's album, mainly because of the (lack of/uncommon) promo for it. Because, at the end of the day, PEOPLE DO NOT BUY MUSIC ANYMORE. The only reason people buy music now is if they are persuaded to care enough about the music, and J.Cole's simply being all over everywhere opposed to Kanye's never being seen or heard is the driving force behind Cole's sales success.

I hate Drake because for some reason everyone thinks Take Care is the great album ever and it's not even close. I do not understand the praise dude gets. Sure, every once in awhile he drops a good track, but mostly is just meh.

@Magic1978 shake your head all you want, it's my opinion. But not many rap artist have been able to touch me like Kendrick, and with such consistency. I can relate to his music on every level. It was pretty much the same for me with Pac, only I can't see Dot letting the ignorance in his life be his downfall.

i promise this brought the lame out of so many of y'all

Drake and Jay throw subliminals: "OMG OMG Rap is so soft. dudes used to say NAMES in songs. and everybody wanna be friends now ugggghhh"

Kendrick drops verse: "this is just name dropping. nothing special. dude just wants attention because GKMC flopped and nobody cares about him anymore"

Nope, Yeezus is just bad man. "Where's my croissant, I am a good" lines like this are littered all through the album. "300 *******, bring the romans" :lol see? that's not "experimenting" or "brave" that's just bad man. Surprised Yeezus is so high on Ye's discography for you :eek Yeezus is flat out bad to be. I do agree with you that the reason Ye didn't sell more was due to a lack of promotion. Had he promoted the conventional way, he probably does end up outselling Cole. Cole still has the superior product though...by far.

You also said people don't buy music anymore which is so far from the truth. Drake, J****, Cole, Wayne, Mac Miller, Ye,Wale,Rozay, Nicki, and a few others all move units heavy. Are those the big dogs in music when it comes to selling? Yes, but its always been that way so for one to say no one buys records anymore is completely inaccurate.

Cole moving his album up to Kanye's date was a total PR move for people to keep talking about his album, it's all business. His outselling Kanye was a matter of A) Kanye's less-than-normal promotion for his album & 2) Cole's crossover appeal with women and pop radio

I really don't mean to knock Cole, but Cole apologists are pretty funny w/ their theories sometimes

and Jay Electronica's not putting out a lot of music has nothing to do with the fact that when he spits, he sounds like he was born to rap. Age don't matter either, just gimme a collection of 10-15 songs and I'm good

But that's never happening with Jay elec. I don't know why people are waiting for it :lol and it does matter that he doesn't drop music often and not a ton of people in the mainstream know who he is. jay elect is probably a better lyricist bar for bar than Kendrick but he doesn't have the reach...you flip it and let jay elect make the exact same lines Kendrick wrote and it wouldn't have nearly the same traction. Kendrick was speaking on his contemporaries Jay Elect is much older than all of em he would've been dismissed as a bitter older hip hop mc who is salty the new guys are hotter than him as far as buzz. This generation gets called out A LOT by older hip hop heads and it garners no traction, same would've happend with Jay. It needed to come from someone like kdot to have the steam it has garnered. You can't call people out if you seemingly don't have any motivation yourself to drop music consistently it wouldn't work at all. And I love Jay Elects music. I agree Elect's presence and the born to rap bit but he only shows up every year a couple times and never comes through with full projects. It's impossible for him to gain traction with a traditional great verse you expect from him, since he doesn't even give that many verses to begin with. It's easier to shoot 75% on 4 shots than it is on 100

Big sean got bars but when someone better than him is on the same track he gets over looked at times. Just IMO..

You cant say he didnt BODY "All Me"

It's his voice

Why don't people get this :lol ? I think Big Sean is witty and clever sometimes, but it never really matters, cause he sounds 12 and very unconvincing. Lil' Mouse damn near packs more attitude in his voice than him.

Pretty sure people bought both of those albums, whether physically or digitally, hence the sales on the charts.

This :rollin

i think Drake the only one thats really gonna take offense to this. im expecting a lot of subliminals.

Do you mean real offense, like a diss? Or that he may actually step his game up on the rap tip? Pusha T & Krit are more than likely already working, and Fab to an extent. Lupe unknowingly is cause his most hurt out of everybody, cause he wasn't even mentioned :lol. Drake can go in when he wants, usually when he has nothing to do with Wa_n_, but then he comes back with something that Tank and Tyrese should be singing.

Stop it. Drake >> Kendrick

As a flat out rapper and artist, QFT.

And people aren't listening if you really think Big Sean ain't out here rapping circles around fools. Listen to Detroit.

:rollin this entire statement was was Battier's shooting before the Finals

Stop it. Drake >> Kendrick
as far as rapping or being a more diverse artist?
Drake is a overall better artist. Kendrick is good but I guess he falls into a "Lupe" type with me. Can't stand all those, Cudi/Lupe/Big Sean/etc rappers. Hate to quote Soulja Boy but he was right that these dudes keep being so "lyrical" that they get too lyrical and after awhile it's like wtf are you even saying?? Maybe Kendrick just went over my head but nothing really popped out at me with this track.

Is it me or did Big Sean pull a LL and address Kendrick's verse in his own?

I was just about to post this :lol.

...I'm over ****** sayin they the hottest ****** then run to the hottest ****** just to stay hot... I'm one of the hottest because I flame drop... Drop fire and not because I'm name droppin hall of fame droppin...

Heard the song last night :eek .. It took a few minutes to realize it was one song since Flex kept dropping bombs and bringing it back :{

Dope track.

It's funny too see these washed up artist who we haven't heard from in decades come out the woodworks with an opinion. I didn't even know Freck Billionaire was still alive!
