I didn't agree with Jay when he said that statement then, and for certain not now.  Even just looking at that statement as if, I take it to mean that Drake is who is "hot" right now. 

If he wanted to compare Drake to someone who is "hot" right now, then he'd say Durant.  Kobe is going down as a great, Durant will too, barring any injuries, but he's not there yet.  Point being, Jay, who is on almost everyone's Top 10, is taking Drake seriously as a rapper, no point in comparing him to Kobe if he wasn't...

When Jay conducts interviews he is as political correct as possible.  With that being said, I'm sure Jay has respect for Drake as a rapper to a certain point, but not on some "Top 10/20" type of list or anything of the sort.  Even if that were the case, like I stated earlier, a lot of folks don't take Drake seriously as a rapper.  Particularly those of us that grew up on Jay, Biggie, Nas, Rakim, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, etc.  Drake is a rapper/r&b type of cat, nothing wrong with that but we all know or all should know that we aren't going to get any groundbreaking bars from Drake.  He's just not that kind of guy.  Drake is moreso the new and improved Ja Rule when he was doing his thing.
