Bigger Impact: Michael Jackson or J.K Rowling??

I doubt people in 3rd world countries know who harry potter is let alone jk rowling

Michael Jackson is global, is this a serious question

Based on some of your reasoning Justin Bieber is one of the most influential people to ever walk the earth...making girls cry and what not.

So out of everyone's explanations of why MJ is in fact had/has a bigger impact than Rowling, that was the best you could come up with?
You compared 40 years worth of a global icon's musical influence to an adolescent girl's wet dream.

If Bieber was making girls cry for 4 straight decades all around the globe, then maybe we can talk.

The "shamone" gif is lulz, the re-faint post is lulz, and trolling tactics are lulz.

Weren't titanic and dark knight the most highest grossing films in the world at one point? Now its Avatar. Correct me if I'm wrong...

R.L Stine has a pretty impressive resume.

According to Forbes List of the 40 best-paid Entertainers of 1996-97, Stine placed 36th with an income of $41 million for the fiscal year.[sup][11][/sup] His books have sold over 400 million copies worldwide as of 2008,[sup][12][/sup] landing on many bestseller lists. In three consecutive years during the 1990s, USA Today named Stine as America's number one best-selling author.[sup][13][/sup] Among the awards he has received are the 2002 Champion of Reading Award from the Free Public Library of Philadelphia (that award's first year), the Disney Adventures Kids' Choice Award for Best Book-Mystery/Horror (three-time recipient) and the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (also received three times).[sup][13][/sup] During the 1990s, Stine was listed on People Weekly's "Most Intriguing People" list, and in 2003, the Guinness Book of World Records named Stine as the best-selling children's book series author of all time. He won the Thriller Writers of America Silver Bullet Award in 2007. His stories have even inspired R. L. Stine's Haunted Lighthouse, 4D movie-based attractions at SeaWorld San Diego and Busch Gardens Europe.
Also, as much as people are giving J.K. Rowling credit for the movie sales numbers, let's not act like she actually produced and directed all the movies.

No one in this thread is disrespecting MJ.. at all.

I believe everyone understands MJ legacy and importance to music and pop culture; however, there is a LOT of discredit towards what Rowlings has done.

I havent seen anyone being a Rowlings "fanboy".  Everyone who's showing any support to her at all is simply trying to show the massive amount of fanfare she does have.

Dude, nobody is saying she does not have a massive fanfare, but it is NOT bigger than MJs...

ooooohhhh... okay... good point, fambs...

but... that will eventually be passed up cuz the value of the dollar goes down, skyrocketing these numbers.

alot of people dont know that they dont adjust the value of the dollar in these charts...

also, the persistent growth of media will have SOMETHING inevitably pass it up...

when it comes to money, stuff wont stay on top long when it comes to how much dough they rake in...

your argument is that EIGHT movies outgrossed all other film series, only one of which consisted of more than four films? Very convenient. Also, if you adjust for inflation, not a single Harry Potter film is in the Top 60 of all time.

The box office lists does account for inflation

How do you think star wars a new hope is there

Youre either overestimating MJs or under estimating Rowlings.  MJ might have more fans, but dont think that Rowlings isnt in the ballpark.

People can stop saying that 3rd world countries know who MJ is.  Thats ridiculous.  MJ hasnt had a popular song released in about 15 years.

So what you're saying is MJ hasn't had any music since on the charts since 1996?

As for the bolded part, that's honestly common knowledge, but if you want, you can easily look that up just as fast as
the amount of money made from the Harry Potter movies can be found.
