Black Culture Discussion Thread

There are a lot of good books on "non-Egyptian" African mythology.

These are a good start, it's sad that you reduce such a diverse and culturally rich continent to "Egypt" and "Kemet".

I embrace the whole continent, though I do know more about North Eastern Africa becasue that is where I started my journey of awakening. I never would consider myself an expert, which is why I ask questions. I actually foster debate and like to be challenged becasue it makes me sharper and I gain new knowledge.

A few of those books were actually recommended in the African History X thread. I really need to pick up art book. There seems to be some great photography there.

When-The-World-Was-Black.jpg

First and foremost I wanna apologize to everyone for not providing the scholarly sources I am capable of. For the most part I've been posting on the go from mobile etc.

At any rate....Why does everyone gravitate towards Egypt/Kemet? It's because they were the peak of civilization and they had it right. If you look at the East or West Africa you'll see that the objective of all the spirituality systems was how to free the soul from this physical body. Furthermore, if you break down almost any religious system it's talking about the salvation of the soul. Our human lives are just a blink in the span of the universe. Our soul is eternal. Why get caught up in something so temporary?

Moving forward, I can't recall which book exactly but I think it's from what's called the hermetica text discusses how the chosen people will be in a land foreign to them with a mind that it is not of their own. This mind that is not of their own is what has been programmed into the minds of the black people in America. The European mindset is constantly breaking down things trying to understand it, but because of the degradation of things they interact with they can't never put it back together and realize the whole picture.

For example, @LIONBLOOD   is shouting out stuff about west africa, posting pics of artifacts that albeit are cool to look at but then what? I am going to go on a limb and say he probably couldnt tell you what the dogon myths, deities or anything associated with western africa truly represented. This again goes back to having a mind that is not of our own. We've been programmed to be left brained individuals while the other side is filled with junk. Too many times i've seen peoples ego get involved with afrocentricity and stop their evolution. Or on the flip side let someone else tell them their history and stop them prematurly.

The dogon spoke of how we came from sirius B when it imploded. They used things in nature to discuss this because nature doesnt change it's mindset like humanity does. (BTW the dogon people of west africa spoke how all the people had migrated from East Africa, Ethiopia, and Kemet and brought their rituals and traditions with them. They also spoke how the people of dynastic Kemet were not the builders of the pyramids but rather had inherited them from a far more ancient culture that had migrated to the west and south and left them behind. which is also why you see pyramids in other parts of africa)

The dogon story basically goes that the great mother was pregnant and had a miscarriage the ripped from her side and started creating. Because it was born prematurely it couldn't create anything that lasted and was unbalanced. What this is talking about was how sirius b imploded and the souls that came from it formed earth. Because we hadnt reached our development we cannot create anything down here that last forever. This premature birth is the reason you see duality, boys/girls, yin yang.

The egyptians were aware of this and this is why they were worried about the perfection of the soul.

Moving forward I'd like to connect this to modern religion. Christianity started from gnosticism. In gnosticism You have what's called Sophia the great mother who gives birth to Ydolobroth. Ydoloroth is more commonly known as Yaweh, Jehovah, Allah. Notice how all the modern day religions have some type of saviour. This saviour is a metaphor for your soul.

Going back to egypt, the myth of osiris basically discusses how his body was cut into 13 pieces. His wife isis put it back together and they gave birth to horus. Horus is one of the christ figures that represents the salvation of the soul. The 13 pieces of osiris body represent parts of knowledge that must be put together. So when you have just some artifacts from western africa metaphorically youre just holding osiris finger and there isnt much you cant do with it.

The egyptains were obsessed with manifesting as above so below. They were literally trying to bring down heaven to earth, For example:

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth, as it is in heaven.

orion-nile-pyramids-milky-way.jpg

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the reason people are attracted to Kemetic culture so much is because it was the most efficient system that laid out the salvation of the soul. They even discussed how the people in america were connected to the sun/light and started in the east part of the world and would set in the western world (african-americans) If you pierce any of the religions you'll see it's talking about our story.

Even the annunak(interchangeable with nephilim/lucifer) is another myth discussing how we created a certain people. Notice how in the bible/koran it always let US/WE make man in OUR image.

I'm getting scatter brained here, but the point I am trying to make is that were not one dimensional people, so let dont let people make our history one dimensional.

Lot of factual information in here.

Our human lives are like in a matrix in sh and span the soul, and the soul comes out of our anus and somehow connects with the stars.

I don't wan to hear all that, post FACTUAL information about the history of West African traditions. Talk about Osun. You'e beginning to sound like one of those ghetto women who won't get in a relationship without knowing a zodiac sign.

BDW Egypt is not the only ancient civ with possible ties to extraterrestrials, again this contributes nothing to the thread.
You just dont get it man. The world is our culture. You could set up on any part of the planet and see its origins are black. I'm not sure why you're so set on West Africa.

You're screaming Orisha but what does they really mean? again youre one dimensional. You post pics and throw out names with no idea of what they really.

I literally just broke down the premise of Dogon culture and how it connects with religion we have now and you still dont get it

errr cause west africa is the source

Let's fools be fools. When **** is in plain sight and they still choose to dismiss it...there's no need to engage them in a debate or try to get a point across to them.

Notice he didn't even offer a rebuttal or give his interpretation of what you posted. He went straight to the classic NT "let me try to be funny and post a gif since I have nothing constructive to add" trick.
A rebuttal to what? He has posted no sufficient evidence to support his claims.

The "real Jews"....Like really?

As if a movie depicting black egyptian's would sell tickets, which despite what a majority of people are claiming here - is all hollywood really cares about.

Woow the guy who keep harping about nonsense, and the kemets when I mentioned the many different African spiritual traditions thinks I'm one dimensional.

I''m set on West Africa because that's where you people were stolen from. I mean if America stole slaves from China I guarantee they would be ranting about Japanese culture and samurais.
So riddle me this, when Dynastic Kemet fell where did they go?

@BlackIntellect

Tell me what happened to Will Smith's Last Pharoah? Guess he doesn't bring in money.

Tell me what happened to Danny Glover's Touissaint? Guess he doesn't bring in money either.

and since I have no facts go ahead and use the bible, history, whatever you want to connect the Jews of today to their historical past. Mind you:
Revelation 2:9

I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
Also can you find who the synagogue of satan is?

It makes sense now. I know you're name SN looked familiar. You're the same dude who trolls all the Black race threads and gets ran out for spouting racist stuff. This is the second post in this thread alone you've been quoted for saying "you people"

Get out of here man, seriously.

It's ok if u know more about North Eastern Africa, but stop trying to make it out to be the direct heritage of African Americans, that is beyond erroneous. Many cultures have a legitimate claim to East Africa and the middle east. Many east African cultures are more closely related to middle eastern cultures.

There are pure West African and South African civilizations that you people choose to ignore people you think it isn't as glamorous as Egypt. That is not being being Afrocentric. The Mali empire was just as impressive as Egypt.
Please direct me to where I have been trying to make continuous claims that Egyptians or people of KMT are our direct ancestors. My direct ancestors come from the Caribbean :lol

I've been spending the majority of my time trying to post useful information about economics/black businesses so you may have me confused with someone else.

I've posted numerous articles of information about people and cultures all over Africa and across the diaspora in various threads on NT. Just today I posted info on the Gullah Geeche people.

But on to more pressing matters... Black banks. I agree with mr s j king mr s j king . We complain we don't have major black institutions then we get folks complaining about closing too fast. Are you kidding me? If you're that turned off by something so petty, what the point in trying to build? It's going to take sacrifice and discipline to get things going and once things start rolling it'll get better.

You've been reported fam keep it moving.

Almost did a quallity job at derailing the thread with your racist antics.

I don't know much African history, seeing as how I haven't finished  with my journey through American history. With that being said, I may sound ignorant on the matter. But how is so much of the history known if a lot of it wasn't written down?

Speaking of "African history" is as vague as speaking of "European history" because of its incredibly diversity. Some sub-Saharan cultures made sure to document their work and lives (for example, Timbuktu houses a lot of papers and books written 5-6 centuries ago by the ancestors of the locals). Others made sure to preserve the traditions and customs by passing them down from one generation to the next. Archaeological studies and elders accounts are usually used to piece together the narrative of particular events. It also helps if the area of interest has been in contact with the external world through trade or wars. It's a difficult task because there are only few African governments that take a real interest in researching and documenting the past - and present - cultures within their countries because they care more about nurturing a sense of nationhood. As a result, the task of preserving the customs of an ethnic group is left to its members, and governments may even avoid funding the research of certain cultures to avoid igniting ethnic tensions.

Regarding what @LIONBLOOD said about Afrocentrism and the constant need to refer back to Egypt, I generally agree. Not all African cultures have links to Egypt. As a matter of fact, unlike what some "scholars" may lead you to believe, not all African cultures even have gods.

I should know, as the belief system of my own people, the Bamileke, do not recognize gods. There's no Hell, and there's no Heaven. There's only the visible world, populated by humans, and the world of the spirits. Through magical means and artifacts, it was believed that human beings could interact and even control spirits, just as spirits could take control of humans. Death marked the passage of men from the visible world to the invisible world. After a period of mourning (typically a year), a large celebration was held during which the defunct would ascend to the realm of Ancestors and his heir would be designated, and it is still celebrated today

In my culture, there is no Jesus and there is no Church; there are no Pharaohs, and no pyramids. Instead, we have beautiful sculptures like these:

Ceremonial attire like this:

By the way, the blue cloth they're wearing in both pictures is made locally and some of them can take years to finish. They're very expensive, and only a few people have the knowledge create it.

And architecture like this (the roofs are not pyramids :lol): the number of cones denotes the power of the chiefdom/kingdom (the more, the better)

@SpottieOttie305  Thanks for putting forth the effort to keep this thread on track.

For anyone who hasn't seen these documentaries they're an excellent place to start with our history and how we go forward:

We need to have a meeting of the minds between Aficans living in this country and African Americans.
We can help each other with so much and begin to bridge the gap between our people.

You talking about movies that were never made though....

I am not saying Hollywood is a posterchild for equality...But to blame them for being hesitant to make films that don't appeal to broader audiences is a little misplaced skepticism IMO.

See that's the thing tho... it's in your opinion

Research both and get back to me.

Also, I'd still like to see what you came up with as far as the Jews...

Please do. All three movies provide a great foundation of knowledge. It really should be required viewing for every black person.

Was just about to say that Spottie. I guarantee you'll find something that'll peak your interest causing further research.
